That’s one of the reasons I haven’t made an effort to connect with girls for a while. I think it’s important to ask “can I?”, but you also have to ask “should I?”. I don’t want to be unequivocally yoked with someone who’s more mature in their walk. I think I should sort things out first.

I have no experience with mental health challenges outside of that scenario. It was taxing and I don’t believe I could handle it until death.

Everyone isn’t able to deal with mental illness in a healthy fashion. A close friend of mine was bipolar. I helped her deal with the condition but the methods I employed wouldn’t work for most. I’ve known her 23 years and have liberties I wouldn’t possess with most.

I think you need a certain measure of patience and grace. I don’t pretend to have it.
Not enough are. :cryingcat:

I may have an idea of what you mean tho. It can depend on the mental illness. I too knew someone w/ bipolar, had him for a roommate, & it wasn't fun.

My friend was extremely loving and stood with me during my spiritual attack. Whatever I did for her she repaid in spades.

I don’t want a partner who struggles with depression or serious maladies. I don’t nor do I have the experience or coping mechanisms to handle it.

I watched Hey Arnold,

Good stuff from what I remember as a kid.

My favorite episode was Helga continuously yelling through a megaphone outside of Arnold's apartment all night about how much time he has left to live when he accidentally got on a big dumb jock stereotype's bad side earlier that day.

"3 hours, 25 minutes, 47 seconds until you dieeeee ....!!!"

Which reminds me .... Doug Funnie really had an issue with constantly trailing off into paranoid or delusional fantasies every episode when you think about it, but say what you will, this rap video he once made up in his head on the spot is fantastic.

She was really bad. A part of me likes her. The bravado was entertaining. But the other part thinks she’s nuts and should leave him alone.

Rugrats was my favorite cartoon growing up. At least the first few seasons.. until it became garbage (pretty much the Dill years and after..)

I grew up on PBS kids, until we got cable...I don’t remember when that was.

He was odd but after Barney you can handle anything. We did Lamb chop and Thomas of course. And The Magic School Bus and Carmen. But Barney brought the weirdness in. And Elmo was his sidekick.

She was entertaining, yeah, but did suffer from some personality flaws, I must say. .... Then again, there seems to be a school of thought out there among the fandom that the show really was secretly meant to be more about the arc of a seemingly side character's weird obsessive love for Arnold and how she copes with it, rather than the misadventures of the titular character himself. ^_^

Really? That's sad. I can't imagine having a childhood without cable.. although we just had basic cable.. nothing too fancy.. lol.

Although honestly Recess is probably my favorite cartoon of all time.. although I didn't start watching it until my later kid days. Made by two of the original creators of Rugrats too.. (the good ones). A pretty smart and intelligent show.. and if I ever have children.. I'll be sure to make sure they watch it.

She was obsessed and looked like she’d been electrocuted. You can’t get that hairstyle without gel, mousse, or hairspray. :D

Yeah, the PBS kids shows were kind of odd, with the exception of Mister Rogers. I didn’t really understand the depth of what he taught people, I think i was more impressed that he had a functional train track that was interwoven with his house. But hey, I was a kid, cartoons are cartoons.

I vaguely remember liking Mr. Rogers. I more remember loving the Puzzle Place. Only thing I can really remember is some live action kid threating to beat up one of the puppet characters..

One PBS show that I did love even when I got older was Arthur. That show has a cult following with adults and I still enjoy watching the show as one myself now. The writing and humor is so good. Another show I would make my future children watch. Although they still make new episodes I believe.

The show had very intelligent messages and a liberal bent. They even had one show where they parodied other cartoons like Beavis And Butthead and South Park.

@cara-mia

There’s a retro vibe in the shot. The mood is very different from the previous image. Nostalgic even?

.....

That’s a 180 from the other picture and seems like a flashback. Different pose. I’m getting reflection...maybe sadness. What do you see?

It was actually that black guy on the show who's dreadlocks were something I wanted and I had no idea how he made his hair do that.. lol.

I also remember having a few Puzzle Place toys.

I loved anything on Nickelodeon in the 90s. All of it. I'd watch it all day.

Gotta mention some of the live-action shows
All That
Double Dare
Keenan & Kel (tho I actually prefer Drake & Josh)
Guts
Are You Afraid of the Dark (I was always too scared of this growing up (I was a scaredy cat bat then), but have watched episodes on YouTube
Clarissa Explains It All (think I was too young for this so didn't really understand it, but have also watched episodes on YouTube)

I watched a lot of the new All That reboot that came out in 2020. I think it's actually pretty decent. Lot of.....culture stuff....I don't like, but overall, I enjoy it. I stopped watching at about Episode 30 or so, I think.

Rugrats was my favorite cartoon growing up. At least the first few seasons.. until it became garbage (pretty much the Dill years and after..)
Same, I didn't mention it b/c, despite how crazy crazy big it was on the network, I never actually really knew anyone who loved it to the same level I did, & many actually didn't like it, & now I think Hey Arnold is my favorite.
The Dill episodes aren't actually that bad, & there's some really good ones mixed in. Doesn't compare to the originals, but the show didn't become a trainwreck till Kimm IMO.

Really? That's sad. I can't imagine having a childhood without cable.. although we just had basic cable.. nothing too fancy.. lol.

Recess was on Toon Disney, I think. We didn't get that, so I was only able to watch Recess at grandma's house. I liked a lot of stuff on Toon Disney, but Recess was amazing

Overall, growing up, I'd rank it
Nickelodeon
Nickelodeon
Nickelodeon
Toon Disney
Cartoon Network
Disney

I didn't really watch much of CN or Disney, but CN I liked Dexter's Laboratory, & I think Looney Tunes & Scooby Doo were on it.
I don't remember watching anything on regular Disney off the top of my head.

I don't really watch any of those channels nowadays other than the All That reboot, & an occasional SpongeBob or Pokemon episode. Used to watch a lot of the Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network.
