CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Then we will pray that it not be so. There are many good folk out there, amidst the selfish, the abusers, etc. And I like to think there's got to be at least one who will be willing to love you and treat you like a princess.

Something interesting happened yesterday.
Towards the end of last week I started chatting with someone on a Christian dating site. One of the options the site has is to fill in the name of your current church, which I had done, and she commented that she'd tried to go there a couple of weeks ago but couldn't because there' no longer have an evening service, which she wasn't aware of. I did suspect that she lived reasonably close to me as I was pretty sure that we'd briefly encountered each other a few years back in a situation that would have arisen from us living in the same area, but obviously I didn't expect the church thing.
I explained why we no longer have that service and left it at that. I didn't make a suggestion that she come to one of the morning services as I felt that I'd be doing that for the wrong reasons, but it ended up not mattering as she turned up on Sunday morning.
I don't know whether she saw or recognised me, and I did wonder whether I should try to talk to her. That didn't happen as I needed to speak to someone else first and she had gone by the time that conversation was done. Maybe that's just as well as I don't know what the best thing to say in that situation would have been, and I wouldn't have wanted to chase her away, although she must have known that there would have been a chance of running into me.
I did think about sending her a message, but she doesn't appear to have been on the site since she sent her last message to me, so she hasn't read my reply to that and I don't known when or if even if she'd read another message. I also don't want to push things as if she is looking for a new church then I wouldn't want to make her feel uncomfortable by having a guy she barely knows come onto her.
But if she decides to stick around then it would give me the opportunity to get to know her in a more natural way than through a dating site, and "We met at church" does sound better than "We met online"...

Please, I ask you all to pray hard for my sake. The last few weeks at work have not been kind to me. And I just have a bad feeling that ... some trouble is waiting for me tomorrow on account of my struggling so hard to do as much as I could the last four hours of my shift today. It wouldn't be fair at all if Nel calls me out for it, of course, but irrationality scarcely stops him. Others who work with me can attest to that several times over, over the years they've been there. It actually wasn't a good sign that Nel came wandering into my section towards the end of the shift talking in a seemingly jovial tone like, "So, you handling it all right in here?" Hearing him sound like he's just kidding around is actually highly suspect if you knew this dude like I do.
I have prayed to God for mercy, and to avoid getting in trouble for anything around there, whether it be for a legit reason or not.

My thanks to everyone who prayed for me. The day went fairly well and my suspicions were apparently for naught.
May I ask, however, that you now pray I will get through tomorrow night, for different reasons. You see, this was supposed to be a period of 60 hours off for me but something has come up and I have once again been called in to work for tomorrow night when I was supposed to be off, which means a 24-hour turnaround both before and after, and that is rough. It is even more unfortunate for the person who was originally meant to work tomorrow night, though; her father apparently just died.

I really love these first-time visitor "Ah need a womaaaan!!!" threads around here, and that's all the newcomer will seem to ever post.
This is just a theory, but despite the fact that I myself have never been popular with women romantically, I think I have found contentment now in their trust and friendship alone and so I no longer feel that great pull to get married or even date. Why is that? ... It may be because I at least act like I like women at all, instead of demanding they fit a particular mold (implying they are worthless or evil otherwise), or acting like they as a whole are to blame for all of my personal problems.
