John 9 JESUS addresses those who do not believe:

HE says if you do not believe I am HE, Ye shall die in your sins. Where I am going, up can not come and if you do not believe I am HE, Ye shall die in your sins

John 13 JESUS addresses those who do believe:

I am going away and you can not follow ME now, but you will later

When works are deprecated in the NT, it is works of the law, As practiced by pharisees ( like circumcision) not spiritual works or works of charity .

Clearly we are asked to do many things, and some of them clearly do affect salvation. The sheep and the goats makes that crystal clear.
By themselves they are not sufficient for salvation and we are saved by grace, but that does not let anyone of the hook, or reduce their need to do all they can in practical love of neighbour and God.

The problem with the false and easily disprovable theologies of the reformation- that is sola scriptura and sola fidei , is they try to reduce ad absurdum to " just this one thing " is enough. To the point of modern fast food faux Christianity , which says " ask Jesus into your life, and you are forever saved" It is fascinating that this 20th century version of Christianity is nowhere in scripture!

But that's not what scripture or tradition demand.
In the case of sola fidei - the only time faith and alone are found together in a biblical sentence is where it says faith alone is not enough! Despite luthers efforts to edit the bible, it is still there opposing his doctrine.

So We are asked to do many things, like sheep and goats and the Eucharist : and woe betide those who ignore our lords ordinances.

But then the saints of history knew this.
So perhaps it is the OP confused!
Problem here is it has nothing to do with the gospel.its just opposing the lutherans and defending rome and all its wickedness .one thing can never match up.we cannot speak about the repentance and forgivness of another if we continue unrepentently in the sin of teaching others idolatry .especially when we wont even admit the sin in the first place. If the first response is to defend it..then rebellion remains and one is fully Unrepentant. There is no forgiveness without repentance.

Which is the one?
One will wash
The others will burn

Jesus forgave all sins. People go to most all churches to learn that their sins
are already forgiven by God. The only work involved is believing that.

Asking forgiveness is one.
Where to go is another.

This is not kind, or gentle, or loving. Calling someone a "sinner" meaning not saved is a no-no according to the rules of CF.

And If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
This is a childish attempt to manipulate the mods. No one called any one person unsaved. I said if one is an unrepentant sinner then oneis unsaved.
And explained repentance.
The continued practice of sin you know to be sin is fully and absolutley disallowed by all inspired scripture .ie by the holy spirit.
But feel free to present one single scripture where he states otherwise.

Would be nice if it were that easy right? Our walk is a constant stumble, just like a new born child being born, we don't come out sprinting, we are constantly falling and getting back up. I don't know about you but when my children fall after running I don't toss them out on the street to never return home. I'm as imperfect as anyone and I love my children enough to not condemn them from falling, I can only assume that an all perfect Father would not condemn me to eternal hell because I sinned even though I have had to repent for that sin in the past. It must be very frightening for you to think this way, especially since it doesn't follow God's character.
Ahh you speak of the new believer in christ.those in the milk. And of course he doesnt condemm a person for it.the sadness is how many stay in the milk and then use it to self excuse thier continued practice of sin. And therin lays the difference. Comitting A sin and continuously practicing that sin is a very different thing.
Once you know it is a sin because the holy spirit tells you it is.. He does so to save you Out of it. So if we say ..no its not sin (or i have no sin)we lie because the holy spirit just told us it is.if we then continue to ignore him and keep doing it then we remain unrepentant and unforgiven.
We are to grow out of the milk. But sadly there are entire denominations that are just rancid lukewarm soured milk year after year.. I have seen new believers become mature in God in mere months while ten year church attendees sit stewing in thier sin.
John says those who continue in the practice of sin are not of God ,do not know God.
Note the continued practice of...not the one off muck up.
But sorry ..continued unforgiveness ,continued looking at filthy violent movies or worse sexual immoral ones continued covetousness... These are not one off muck ups. They are evidence that a person loves sin and hates god .

Dont you know
Or are you just mocking?

Mocking? No sir, just asking where to go.

Asked where and I know it couldn't be in a mall, or a laundry mat or a school and there are just thousands and thousands of churches. But which one? These are real churches alright, but where the heck is it?

Is it here?

There are thousands and thousands of churches and chances are they are all man made. If the church is man made, do you think a person can be forgiven?
If you ask forgiveness from God in your house, well that is not a sacred place - its like asking forgiveness in a movie house watching "Beauty and the Beast" while eating pop corn.

Many of the saints seem to be confused as to what constitutes a "work". So I will ask this rhetorical question. What must we do to receive forgiveness, and if there is something we must do, is it work?
In order to define what constitutes a "work" it is first necessary to define "work" as the scriptures refer to various types of work(s). Upon regeneration by faith, all believers are created and called to do good works (Eph 2:10; Rom 2:7). Why are we called to do good works? Because it is the outward evidence of our inward faith; in other words it proves one's faith is genuine. That is why James wrote that one is justified by works and not by faith alone (Js 2:24) and faith without works is dead (Js 2:17). If we want to know the role of works as it relates to forgiveness and the Good News all one needs to do is refer to how Paul described the gospel that he himself preached: "but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. So for example, because believers have received God's gracious forgiveness, we are then obligated to forgive others as this is not optional. "But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins" (Matt 6:15). Because we are forgiven, we then perform the work of forgiving others which demonstrates our own repentance and receipt of forgiveness.

The criticism coming from those who deny or mitigate "works" in the life of the Christian is that they believe that it adds to the finished work of Christ. This belief could be described in equation form: Faith + Works = Salvation. However, the scriptures cited above equate works in the life of the Christian as Faith = Works = Salvation. Faith and works go hand in hand; can't have one without the other as they are two sides of the same coin. That is why in the book of Revelation, Jesus says to each and every one of the 7 churches - "I know your works...." If works are unnecessary, then why does Jesus judge each of the churches for what they have or have not done? Jesus promised "And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—" (Rev 2:26). One can easily see that the role of works in the life of the Christian is no small thing in Jesus' eyes.

The other confusion stems from not distinguishing good works which believers are called to do from works of the Law (Rom 3:20, 28; Gal 2:16) and works done in our own strength (Eph 2:9; 2 Tim 1:9) which the scriptures condemn. These 3 types of works are often equated with each other so obedience to God is often mislabeled and mischaracterized as "works-based salvation" despite the requirement of obedience specified for eternal life in Heb 5:9. Finally, there are works of the flesh which describe sins that all believers should avoid from engaging in (Gal 5:19-21).

I was commenting on the OP and why the NT says some works are deprecated,

And my post references scripture, showing our Lord demands certain works of us showing reformation theology is false,

As for idolatary, I don't, and I don't know anyone who does, so difficult to know why you raise that.

So perhaps you would like to challenge what I said instead?

Sure do!

Psalm 18:6 New International Version (NIV)

In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears.

It is in God's temple he hears people. Why is that so - isn't God everywhere? Sure he is!

Isaiah 59:2 New International Version (NIV)

But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.
