Verse 6 by itself does not look like a commandment, but rather a statement about God's character.

No where does it say in the Holy writ that the law is based on self works.
You don't need to find the exact word "self works" but you need to understand it what the old covenant law requirements is, to prove whether is based on "self works" or God.
So then why do you not believe we need to obey the 4th commandment? It is God's power that enables us to keep it. It's no works of ours to obey Him.
If you want to obey the 4th commandment or any commandments. First you need to "Believe" the Gospel. For anyone who "believe" enter into God's Rest..Hebrews 3. (This will take a life time to achieve Not 7days).
Why do you say that? It has been my experience that when I first began to choose to listen to the Holy Spirit at all times and be obedient to Him my life started changing that very day.
Why do I say that? Because the 4th commandment comes in a set of 9 other commandments, and failing to uphold one of the other 9 commandments automatically failed you from keeping the 4th commandment and all commandments..James 2:10.

Yes the "old covenant" it's based solely on the "person" who decided to follow this old covenant law. Nothing to do with God help or Christ or Grace or Faith..those who seek to be justified by the Law (OC) have alienated from Christ, they have fallen away from Grace..Galatians 5:4I agree, and this scripture came to my mind
