If one's on the right, it just feels like leveling the playing field. The left hasn't had a window in the 21st century. It's been able to express the most hideous, dangerous ideas imaginable.I can see how it would feel like that in America. I think, from Australia, it's easier to have a little more hope.
I don't see that as a problem. Why do you think that?I think part of the problem with that way of conceptualising things, is seeing either "the right" or "the left" as monolithic. When in fact there is much more complexity than that.

I guess I didn't word my reply right. What I meant was that I don't see viewing the right or left as monolithic as a problem, because I rarely see anyone doing that.Because it's inaccurate. Because it reduces people to stereotypes. Because it avoids much of the depth of the real issues. Because it doesn't equip us to engage well with what's actually happening around us.
We can't effectively proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God, if we refuse to acknowledge the context in which we are attempting to proclaim it.
Hope is nice, but depends on what our hope is based. This week I saw evidence of an expression of bias that wouldn't be allowed in most businesses and government organizations because it makes it appear that this view or that view is officially endorsed. For that reason you don't put political stickers on company vehicles, and you sure don't on a government vehicle.I can see how it would feel like that in America. I think, from Australia, it's easier to have a little more hope.
