A Pilgrim and a Sojourner...
Because of the 50 years of "Help" they got. They are being helped into the problems we would like to see them EXIT.So why are the problems so much bigger 50 years after those laws were repealed?
You know, a hungry person has a very similar feeling in his belly today as the hungry person did 50 or 100 years ago. The person who is in poverty today, usually is NOT in the predicament the poor faced 50 or 100 years ago. Typically, today, the "poor" in America have a car, a house or apartment, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a TV, a cellular phone, and even a computer. I remember a time when almost NO ONE had all those things.
Clearly, this is a relative thing. People back then did not have neighbors around them with so much stuff, and didn't sense they were so bad-off. Today, people are so concerned about having all the STUFF (that other people have) that they will complain, rather than work harder or seek to better themselves.
As in the movie I mentioned, education is not the worst of the problems, because the folk around certain people make them feel it is wrong for them to try to improve their situation, education, job, etc. The education issue is a by-product of the bad culture. All this, and we STILL hear how it is OK to maintain those cultures, and there are fewer and fewer dads around as we go. The same (type of) people arguing for these things were arguing for the very things that brought these problems on. This is why they are the ones to blame. They are so intent on segregating this protected class of VICTIMS, and keeping them victims with their gov.programs, that they perpetuate the problem, and maintain their power over the victims!!!
