...Trump holds a bi-partisan discussion (with the camera's rolling for 55 minutes) and attempts to referee the discussion, initially stating he would like a "clean DACA"...

"Clean DACA"
"DACA with Security"
"DACA with Security and Chain migration (ending)
"DACA with Security and merit based migration"
"DACA and everything else"
"Comprehensive Migration"

Analysis | We got a glimpse of Trump negotiating today. It … didn’t go well.

Your Avatar is the perfect personification of the madness that is running rampant in this administration...

I would call it amateur hour but even amateurs learn after the course of a year...

The article reminded me a little bit of my old R&D days.

Every so often we'd have a division level meeting in which various programs would be reviewed and discussed. Inevitably there would be an important muckity-muck at the meeting. Said person was either a political weenie or a high up bean counter. Now, this person ALWAYS had a staffer with him and the staffer would always make the mistake of thinking he knew our field. He would try to show off for his boss, jump into the conversation, use our jargon incorrectly and more or less make an embarrassment out of himself pretending he knew what he was doing and talking about when he just didn't have a clue.

Now, the staffer was used to pulling the wool over the eyes of his peers. Unfortunately for him, in our program reviews, pretty much everyone in the room was either an Engineer or former Engineer. The average IQ in the room was easily north of 120 so we could see through his "act" in much the same way a teacher could tell that a student who is giving a book report didn't read the book and only read the back cover....

Whenever I see these sorts of things from Trump, I feel like a teacher watching a student fumble through a book report when it is clear he didn't read the book...

It's a shame people are so rabidly anti-Trump
that they are blind to what good he's done and
how quickly his agendas are progressing. He's
done more good for our nation in a year than
Obama did in four. And he hasn't played the
victim card once, as Obama, who played the
race card so often.

Looking forward to the end of anchor babies, chain
immigration and DACA, and watching construction
on the wall begin this year. And best of all, knowing
the Liberals and establishment GOP will be going:

A matter of opinion, but to be expected.

But at this point:

And he hasn't played the
victim card once,

You, sirrah, owe me a new Irony Meter.

It's this degree of separation from reality that makes all of us on the anti-Trump side wonder in what world his fanbase is living. That statement is demonstrably untrue. Have you ever looked at his Twitter feed? Every mention of fake news is him playing the victim card. This is from Sunday:

Looking forward to the end of anchor babies,

Huh? How?

chain immigration and DACA, and watching construction on the wall begin this year.

Huh? This whole meeting was about how to pass DACA.

Trump consistently plays the victim card:

"No politician in history...and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly."

"It's just the media again, I get the most unfair media."

"I got a very unfair question from somebody, but we don't even need to talk about that" (of course, he's talking about that when he says that)

"I think she asked me an unfair question at the debate....I think I had unfair questions and everyone else had very easy questions."

Now, i'm sure you can produce a bunch the times when Obama played the victim/race card. I'll be waiting patiently.

I thought it was an interesting glimpse at what usually happens behind closed doors. It certainly dispelled the claims that Trump is incompetent. Although I did watch a little Morning Joe this morning and their analysis got a literal LOL out of me at 4am.
My only improvement on the meeting would be to lock the doors and not let anybody out until they compromised their way to a solution.

It's this degree of separation from reality...

You probably should know that for a lot of people, that statement is seen as irony.

A simple example would be a Facebook meme that is going around lately:

"The people who claim Trump has mental issues also claim that there are more than two genders. Let that sink in." :D

It is always best to listen first hand and form your own opinion.

Indeed. I listened intently to the entire 55 minutes. It was interesting to hear not only Trump, but all the Senators and Representatives.

If I were Trump....order his GOP leadership to:

1. Pass a clean DACA bill asap - as in 2 weeks.
2. Revive the 2013 Gang Of Eight Senate bill, update it and have a vote in both houses in the next two months.

Trump could then say that he implemented a comprehensive immigration and security bill.

He said he would take the heat (from the far Right & Left). Step up and do it.....

Or he can continue to expect Congress to fix it....

Lindsay Graham summed up the immigration debate well...and called on Trump to "Close the deal"

"The people of South Carolina want a result. How can I get a letter? I’ve been for a pathway to citizenship for 11 million people because I have no animosity toward them. I don’t want crooks, I don’t want “bad hombres.” I want to get a merit-based immigration system to make sure we can succeed in the 21st century, and I’m willing to be more than fair to the 11 million. I just don’t want to do this every 20 years.

Now, we made a decision, Mr. President, not to do it comprehensively. I think that’s a smart decision but a hard decision. We’ve passed three comprehensive bills out of the Senate with over 55 votes. They go to the House and die, and I’m not being disparaging to my House colleagues, this is tough politics if you’re a Republican House member turning on the radio.

To my Democratic friends, thanks for coming. The Resist Movement hates this guy. They don’t want him to be successful at all. You turn on Fox News, and I can hear the drumbeat coming. Right-wing radio and TV talk show hosts are going to beat the crap out of us because it’s going to be amnesty all over again. I don’t know if the Republican and Democratic Party can define love, but I think what we can do is do what the American people want us to do.

Sixty-two percent of the Trump voters support a pathway to citizenship for the DACA kids if you have strong borders. You have created an opportunity in here, Mr. President, and you need to close the deal."

Honest question: Isn’t legislation the responsibility of Congress? Isn’t that what we elected them to do, make laws and pass legislation?

Yep...and I think Trump is in a perfect position to lean on the GOP leadership to get something done in the immigration space.

Fighting back against a hostile media corps is not
playing the victim card. It's the plain truth.

Obama: 'If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon'

In January of 2014, President Obama told The New Yorker:
“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really
dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President.”

Bill Clinton: Obama camp 'played the race card on me'

Don't forget he also had the MSM to play the card for him.

The racist backlash Obama has faced during his presidency

The Election Was About Racism Against Barack Obama

The Racist Backlash Against Barack Obama Is What Brought Us Donald Trump
