If we could keep the commandments, then Christ would have died for nothing. Faith in Christ, who is the only one able to keep the commandments, is the only way we can keep what men never could. If it is not of faith, than it is of works and works negate grace. The law involved works of the flesh. Faith requires works of the spirit. IF you don't understand that, then there is nothing left to say but this, attempt to keep one law, you must keep them all for you have made yourself like Christ. But fail in even one, which he didn't, and you fail in all. Resistance is futile and a trick of the enemy. Christ did it all. Now our righteousness is imputed to us, not by works but by FAITH.

I asked God to speak to me about what is written here. He said, "Point all to what I have had written in 2 Peter 3:16, speaking of Paul's epistles, where Paul writes, "speaking in them of these things (salvation) in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of scriptures.'" He went on, telling me to counsel all that "If one comes to Me on that day with words such as these, My response will be that, though much of what you say is true, I cannot account these words toward your salvation, but instead will put you with the liars, who will have their part in the lake of fire, as I have written. If you presented these words as one loving and telling the truth, you would be applying their truth to the goal of keeping My commandments. Have I not written that, if you keep My commandments, you will abide in my love? But that, if you claim to know Me, but do not keep My commandments, you are a liar, and the truth (Me) is not in you? I know that you have not received the love of the truth, or the Truth, because you have not rightly divided the words "keep" or "faith," twisting these holy words to mean "do in your own strength," and "affirm without evidence." As I commanded, My commandments, the imperative voice words I gave to my disciples when I walked on the earth in the flesh, are what I command to be taught. But you have not received that teaching, are the "untaught" I was referring to in 2 Peter, and are twisting Paul's words to your own destruction. The "righteousness" imputed to you by My sacrifice is received only when it is applied to My commandments which are written. This inheritance you have spent instead on keeping the commandments of the world, being a kind, a nice person, polite and respectable. Strive instead to know My commandments, to see Me empowering you in changing your mind, being transformed, submitting to Godly leadership and living by every word proceeding today from My mouth, what you hear and use to build true faith.

Neil,

Here are some scriptures that give us wisdom in responding to the scriptures.

1. 2 Tim 3:15 "...the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

2. John 5.39 "You search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life, and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come Me that you might have life."

When we remember that "faith comes from hearing" the "rhema" word of God, the word that proceeds, not (only) proceeded, from His mouth, today, not (only) in times past, these passages direct us to use scriptures for getting into the presence of God, Jesus, Himself, to hear and learn to know His voice, so that faith might come, and then salvation.

The only other passage which affirms the literal use of scripture is 1 Corinth 4:6, where we are told (cryptically) to "not think beyond what is written." Applying the first and direct recommended use of scripture, I asked the Lord what this passage meant, and He said that it directed the formation of the church. He drew my attention that it was the last verse in a passage (1:10-4:6) flagged with references to Paul and Apollos, discussing the wholeness of the church. He said that when a people will let themselves be gathered together and formed in literal obedience to what is written about the church, and not engaged in any other activity, then He will build His church with them as members. Literally, anyone building a building, having a (God have mercy!) Sunday school, preaching to the members, or otherwise doing anything not clearly specified in the scriptures as a church activity will not be built into His church. Anyone teaching (as a supposed member of His church) anything other than the commandments, which are what He commanded (in the scriptures) be taught to new disciples, will not be included in the church, and in fact will be regarded as liars and will have their part in the lake of fire.

grothtruth,

Here are a few scripture which should give you more direction in understanding the nature of the commandments we are to keep.

Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Gal 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, [doeth he it] by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Here is the remaining match.
Rom 3:27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Here is why we should cease from works of the law.

Hbr 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his.
Hbr 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

As I hope I have said before, all prophecy in NT times is imperfect, corporate really. Please do not burden me by taking what I prophesy literally. It is given to edify, to give others something to ask God about themselves, confirming or correcting what I "heard."

Not sure why it would 'burden' you but in any case I'll not take your imperfect 'prophecy' literally.

But of course Jesus did not want the disciples to actually tithe. They were to meditate on the "spirit" of that law, and to judge themselves (which we are trained to do learning repentance) accordingly, as they go about giving.

From their non-existent purse/scrip.

As almost all of the questions I posed in my previous post to you remain unanswered I'll repeat them.

You said that only the two kinds of scripture you outlined are to be taken literally. Can you provide us with precisely where in scripture it says this. Further, how are the rest of the scriptures to be taken? As myths, metaphors, what?

You've said that God said to you that you are "barely halfway done" and you are at 77. This means the Virginia Beach folks are WAY off base with their 200. They have a lot of extras that shouldn't be there, don't you think?

The commandments Christ is referring to in Mt 5:19 when He says "THESE commandments" are those he mentions in His Sermon on the Mount (Mt Ch 5 - 7). He doesn't make any reference to tithing at all in the Sermon on the Mount. Is that not the case?

The acid test of redeeming one's tithe. I like that.

What I suspect some will say is that they redeem it by the benefit they and others reap from the facilities and the programs therein.

Strangely, I've seen many, many people hand over the primary (largest) portion of their so-called giving to organized religion, and have not one problem with reaping many material benefits directly from their so-called giving. That clearly is antithetical to the giving exemplified within the NT texts.

Who among you hands over support to the poor and receives back any direct benefit on this earth?

That acid test is also relevant.

Heck, if someone chooses a tithe as the measure of their giving, then do it if that's what you've purposed in your heart.

The REAL issue is WHERE one hands over his giving. Organized religion, in most cases, is a robbery of God because the people lavish their so-called giving right back upon themselves by way of the facilities and the luxuries such organizations enjoy.

The idea that responsibility doesn't rest primarily upon the giver as to where they hand over their giving is yet another lie of the enemy. I've long since repented of handing over the parimary portion of my giving to institutional church oraganizations.

God's work is PEOPLE, not concrete, metal, wood, gypsum, and lawn care.

You will never hear this preached in a tithe preaching ministry but here is the truth they don't want you to know.

Lev 27:31 And if a man will at all redeem [ought] of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth [part] thereof.
Lev 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, [even] of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
Lev 27:33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.
Lev 27:34 These [are] the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.
I think the word speaks for itself, You decide

11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. -1 Corinthians 3:11-15

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, -Philippians 1:15-18

1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. -Matthew 6:1-4

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

A foundation (also a charitable foundation) is a legal categorization of nonprofit organization that will typically either donate funds and support to other organizations, or provide the source of funding for its own charitable purposes.
This type of non-profit organization differs from a private foundation which is typically endowed by an individual or family.

In the United States, nonprofit organizations are formed by incorporating in the state in which they expect to do business. The act of incorporating creates a legal entity enabling the organization to be treated as a corporation under law and to enter into business dealings, form contracts, and own property as any other individual or for-profit corporation may do.

In many countries, nonprofits may apply for tax exempt status, so that the organization itself may be exempt from income tax and other taxes. In the United States, to be exempt from federal income taxes the organization must meet the requirements set forth by the Internal Revenue Service.

Now, is your church a place of worship, or is it a nonprofit organization, a place of business?

WHERE IS MY FATHER'S HOUSE ?

Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head." -Matthew 8:20

As for the Son of man having no place to lay His head, think about
it. Jesus came into our world, not to build a physical kingdom for
Himself. From the cross, He would return to the heavens. During
His sojourn in the earth, Jesus owned nothing. He was actually
buried in a borrowed grave. Yet even the grave would not keep His
body.
Now apply that to yourself. The attitude we are to have as true
believers, is that we are sojourners in this life. Jesus said that we do
not belong to the world, even as He did not belong to the world.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. -Matthew 7:12

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." -Matthew 22:40

The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." -Galatians 5:14

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right. -James 2:8
