Believe it or not I think I have been proposed to twice without even getting to the first date.

Maybe 12 years ago I was driving and I was kind of sad about something at work, I noticed getting up to 55 mph a car that was on the other side of me on the highway. I rolled out my window because I thought something was wrong, and he said will you marry me. I was flattered, but rolled up my windows and sped away. Some others, maybe they would be creeped out.

Currently I'm taking a break from online dating, but in the last 2 years most of the guys that I have talked with we have been serious about what we look like long-term and saying that we're marriage minded. Typically it's not something you discuss in the beginning, but as you get older it changes.

I feel like I always somehow manage to say something completely stupid on a first date or laugh at the most inappropriate times out of sheer nervousness and scare the poor fellow away. So every time I see this thread it reminds me of these humiliating experiences, and no I'm not sharing the stuff I've said and done.

Awwww, come on, share with us, let us all learn from the experience, and laughing at your past mistakes is good therapy.

My first date, the girl was super nervous about the Ferris Wheel, so she started talking politics to distract herself from the height...

And that's actually really cute! Awwwww! haha! Seriously, I really do say and do stupid things. I don't know what gets into me whether it's nerves or impulse or a mixture of both, I basically do everything one shouldn't do to create a good first impression. My little sisters are always shaking their heads and telling me I need to take lessons.

I have had some good dates too though and almost got serious with one guy, so I shouldn't make it sound like they all have been bad, but I have a tendency to make a fool of myself. Hopefully I will be better next time if there's a next time that is.

Imagine, your date is afraid of heights but insistent on going on the Ferris Wheel, you're waiting in line, already feeling awkward, but they're coming apart. You tell them they don't have to, yall can ride a different ride,, but they insist.
They tell you to distract then with conversation, your mind is already so jumbled you can't hardly fathom words, let alone start some epic convo out of nowhere.

And the next thing out of their mouth: "what are your thoughts on abortion?!"

Awww, that's okay and I don't think that's so bad, I mean it definitely would take her mind off of the heights! I wouldn't mind if someone asked me that question on a first date, unless perhaps I felt they were going to attack me for my views after asking it.

Exactly though, it's such a divisive issue, anything you say might be attacked, or taken the wrong way
It's hard enough to find things to say on a first, but then you throw that pressure on it too?
