Who are you talking to?
People who have been damaged by religion.

Religious people only see and hear what they want to see and hear, if it's not on their list of beliefs it's dismissed.

Religion is just one big ego trip, "the God who made everything loves me",
they were told it as children and they still believed it today, if religious people grow up they lose their religion.

Actually we can, because it's quite clear as of now there is no Evidence that points toward the existence of god.
There certainly is evidence that points towards the existence of God. Ambiguous evidence, maybe, but evidence nonetheless.

I did not grow up in a religious family. I 'got religion' as an adult. Praise God.

Religion is like marriage; it's not for kids. The more you understand it more compelling it becomes (and frightening as well). The religion that so many rail against is a false religion. The true God is loving but also gets angry and breaks things. He is not to be trifled with.

Evidence of God must at all cost be kept a secret, if the truth gets out it will destroy humanity.

Apparently there's no evidence (or need) for scientific theories either for "science never proves anything" .

Just throw something out there and see if it sticks. Anything. Because proof isn't required.

It is a delightful irony that rationality, conclusions reached by deductive reasoning without the need for objective evidence, can be enjoyed by believers as well as unbelievers in regard to the existence of God.

I too accepted Jesus at the age of 30. Before that I dabbled into all kinds of occultic things. The only thing I knew about the bible than was the main stories of course. Moses, Jesus, David and Goliath....but never really read it.

Of course you didn't grow up in a religious family because no one ever does, you got religion as an adult because it all made so much sense to you, every religious person finds their god on their own, yes it's the only way.

It's all just so very very sad, some even say religion is a good thing.

For some, religion is a good thing. For others, religion is used a negative way.

I grew up in Church, although it was a very strict, fundamentalist religion. I see almost exactly the same behavior in the fundie atheists that I saw in many of the people I grew up with. Many have religious fervency concerning atheism and Darwinism, especially on this board, and become tremendously upset when one challenges their worldview.

I 'met' Jesus when I was about three or four years old. My mother brought us kids a religious coloring book. Jesus was sitting with a child in his lap, and surrounded by little lambs. My mother said, "That's Jesus, he loves you." I got a warm, fuzzy feeling from that introduction, but didn't feel it again until I was 35 years old.

I was a member of a church/ministry for 25 years and can truthfully say that many did not conduct themselves in a manner one would expect of a spirit-led Christian. Not everyone that claims to be Christian is. The devil sows tares that give the whole field a bad name.

Religion has it's flaws but is basically good.

Why anyone would even need to believe a myth is beyond me, why do they do it? I can understand a person who was raised and indoctrinated believing it but definitely not adults, who are they fooling? what are they clinging to and why would they need to cling to it? I am at a complete loss as to why anyone would do it or even want to do it, what is wrong with them to make them need to believe nonsense?

Why would someone say, you can't show that it's not true so I'm going to believe it, that's completely back to front and against all reason, perhaps I'm wrong and it's not about truth, only need, they need to believe in something.

Perhaps that's why there are countless cults and religions in this world? people are desperate to believe in something, anything just as long as they believe.

I agree totally. I now mostly minister in home meeting settings, something I enjoy immensely.
