I nominate U2 as the "Most Overrated Rock Band in HISTORY" Award :D

I nominate posts that nominate things as 'overrated' extremely overrated to the point of being purile and the morons that post them to be complete idiots.

And your personal opinion counts for what, troll?

Go and start a Justin Timberlake thread and meet some like-(tiny) minded people with pathetic musical tastes.

Did you have a bad day? :p

Anyway, Im' surprised U2 is as popular as they are... I wouldnt consider their music bad, by all means- just overrated. Outta all their albums they produced... I can only name one or two good songs by them.

I remember The Edge getting on Australian TV explaining that the Elevation tour wasn't coming to Australia purely on the basis of economics.

The fact is, the economic outlook for Australia is looking to get worse in the next year or compared to what it was around 2001.:(
I never saw that. If the economy gets worse I’m going to stress big time.

I remember Edge stated in Zootv days that they prepared to do shows and not make money, but they are not prepared to do shows and loose money.

The only Australians likely to see U2 this tour will be the staff of luxury North Queensland resorts.
LOL that ain't me.. :D :(

I'm starting to think your right about them doing a follow up album, like they did with Zooropa. There is already talking about them going back to studio (which is early) I know that in a recent interview with Steve Lilywhite he said something about a new song called "Northern Star". I don't have anymore info on that, I just read about it on interference.

definitely 'sometimes you can't make it on ur own' by U2-so intense and inspiring, and it always makes me think about the need to have Chrst in my life...
Yep intense song, it always makes me think how intense the relationship was between Bono and his farther.

I have a question- is Bono at all religious/ Christian, because a number of his songs have religious references, such as;

'The girl with crimson nails
Has Jesus round her neck'

'I believe in the Kingdom Come...
You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross of my shame' ...to name a few!

Bono doesn’t like the idea of organized religion, but believes Jesus is the way. I've done a lot of research on this topic - you might want to have a read this thread.

I read in our newspaper today that Bono has a new clothing line out called Edun ("nude" backwards if you didn't catch that). Interesting article.

Yes, it's a fair trade clothing line which his absolutely gorgeous wife Ali Hewson has started to provide decent wages for second and third world garment makers.

Yep, I'm proud of our boys, also the Boss’s awesome speech! So did you go to the RRHOF or watch it? I heard there were tickets available to the public. I haven't watched the show yet but the band sounded very good, especially Bono's voice.

WOW! GA for all 5! that’s awesome!!!! I can feel the envy coming now ;) What shows are you going to?

I live in Australia and sadly we still don't know if their coming down here, I hope they visit early next year though. I've been a fan for 15 years (I was too young for zootv) and had financial problems during popmart. There is no way I'm missing this one...

But I'm pumped the tour starts in two days! Keeps me optimistic ^_^

Nice to run into you Neenie!

I've going to:

Chicago 5/9

Chicago 5/10 Bono's birthday ^_^

Philly 5/14

NYC 11/22

Cleveland 12/10

Yea, not cheap but definetly and totally worth it. I only went to one Elevation concert and I had seats....I'm making up for it this year!

Neenie, I am sure that they'll come to Aussieland. Everything just got pushed back when they delayed the tour....

Yeah, it seems like a really neat idea.

I had never seen a picture of Ali Hewson before looking at the article, and she is pretty.
