I think you have hit the nail on the head, your knowledge of U2 is amazing.
Why thank you! :) Guess it comes with the territory of being a fanatic.

I can't wait for the next tour, though I'm worried about how to get tickets, especially for the American shows I want to go to. I was never around for the previous tours so I'm not familiar with what the World Service is - is that Propaganda? I've noticed other U2 fans mentioning how they're unsure of how to get tickets now that Propaganda no longer exists.

You guys aren't going to believe this one. This is just ... INCREDIBLE. Amazing. Wonderful. Beyond belief.

Guess what I got in the mail today? U2's official 2004 calendar. Cool, you say. More than that - IT'S AUTOGRAPHED BY THE B-MAN! My friend found it, he posted it to me ... and wow, just wow. This is beyond incredible. I'm going to add this to Axver's List of Rare U2 Stuff.

The autograph. It's a bit large to add to the attachments thing, it seems. Hehe, looks like 'Bon'.

What other rare U2 Stuff do you have?
I have the full audio of 1 December 1993, Christchurch and 2 December 1997, Mexico City (night before the Popmart video). Apparently the Mexico City concert is VERY rare, not even on the hubs, but I downloaded it from a Mexican website about three months ago! Didn't realise what I got until today!

I should have this by now, but I've been sent 31 August 1984, Wellington, complete with The Cry/The Electric Co. That track is not meant to exist. When/if I receive it, I will probably be only one of a handful of people, and I'm most certainly putting it up online. The track's got to be leaked to the world.

I'm Jealous and shocked :( but still happy for you.

I didn't know there was 2 Mexico shows, but i can vaguely remember in complete concert book there was. I have all the easily accessible popmart shows that were from bloodredsky.com the one i have before Mexico is 1997-11-28. Tell me about the show. I know there is a rare sounboard from Sun devil studium Arizona.

I have that show but it is not complete, missing The Cry/The Electric Co. Yes realease the two tracks!!! spread it!

It really bugs me when people advertise on ebay or somewhere public, that they have ultra rare U2 shows but they won't share it, unless they get huge am mounts of money in return or something else that is high in value. I have Frankfurt, Germany 02 June 1993 which is supposed to be rare, but that has just been released and i have it on SHN .

And about that dvd i mentioned before. i'm still downloading it after nearly a week.

Change of topic. Axver or Indigo Tree, can you please tell me your thoughts on "wake up dead man" what is the song about? I am interested.

Yeah, the 28 November show is the last one before 2 December. The last five shows of Popmart Leg 3 are;

28-11-97 - Houston
02-12-97 - Mexico City
03-12-97 - Mexico City
09-12-97 - Vancouver
12-12-97 - Seattle

When they film shows for videos, it seems to be normal procedure to play a night beforehand in the same city (A rare video exists of the night before the Sydney ZooTV video, it's 26 November and it's the only show where a member was missing). The quality of the 2 December 1997 audio is NOT impressive, there is a lot of crowd noise, but considering that, the band comes through alright, it is not the worst I have heard. I would say 1 February 1981, London and 4 December 1982, Birmingham are worse and it's probably on a par, if not better, than 1 December 1993, Christchurch.

I have zootv Christchurch show, but is from the vcd and not the full show you have.
Yeah, I have the VCD (and audio of it) too. The full show's pretty good once you get past the sound quality ... or maybe I just love it because I get all the jokes!

I have that show but it is not complete, missing The Cry/The Electric Co. Yes realease the two tracks!!! spread it!
I wish I'd hurry up and receive it first to spread it ... oh well, I can be patient. But when I get it, I'm ripping that track and it's being spread!

It really bugs me when people advertise on ebay or somewhere public, that they have ultra rare U2 shows but they won't share it, unless they get huge am mounts of money in return or something else that is high in value.
Now that I actually have some rare stuff, I can understand more where they're coming from. However, the simple fact of the matter is the desire to keep something rare stems from selfishness and pride - these people like to think "hey, I'm the only person in the world who's got this show!" I despise the person who's keeping the only full band So Cruel (09-09-92 Detroit) rare. However, I'm trying to keep what I've got away from MP3 - I'd prefer it to stay as high quality as possible. But seeing Wellington '84 is already out there in MP3, I will be uploading the missing track in MP3 because I don't think it makes much of a difference.

I have Frankfurt, Germany 02 June 1993 which is supposed to be rare, but that has just been released and i have it on SHN .

And about that dvd i mentioned before. i'm still downloading it after nearly a week.
Oooh, that Frankfurt show would be cool. I love it when stuff like that leaks - 15 March 1981, Reseda soundboard didn't leak until 1996! Those DVDs sure take ages to download ... I'm currently downloading ZooTV Sydney unedited from an FTP right now, taken me two days so far. Though I think it's VCD, it's a file type called AVI, I already have the first part and while I can get the audio to play, it won't show me an image. I read this is common, but I didn't find the solution ...

Change of topic. Axver or Indigo Tree, can you please tell me your thoughts on "wake up dead man" what is the song about? I am interested.
I really do think that song needs to be seen with Beautiful Day. I feel they belong together, which is reinforced by WUDM being the last track of Pop and BD the first of ATYCLB. People say BD is the story of Job, while I say it is the end of the story. WUDM is the rest. I also think it's expressing the doubt and struggle everyone has at some time, but then you have the reassuring 'Listen to the words ... marching bands playing out their time' verse stuck in there, and the call for the dead man to wake up (which directly correlates to a verse in one of Paul's epistles, I forget which). It's definitely an interesting song.

You did a big post Axver!

The rare video on the night before Sydney, do many people actually have that? Is it true that there is a pro-shot and soundboard for every show from Zootv and Popmart?

Yes the Frankfurt show is excellent quality. Gee it's amazing that it took 15 years for the Reseda soundboard to come out. Do you know where i can get it? Sounds like it would be good. And yeah I've got the Sydney unedited show in audio, It's annoying that they took out some of the M'c Phisto speech, i like that part when he say's " Tape each other, Children tape your parents, Parents tape your children Tape all of this and watch it as close to you and your personal headphones" hehe I love M'cphisto :yum: And he was best in the 05-11-1993-Rotterdam show, If you haven't got it Axver get it!! He sounds the funniest, during desire he sings a snippet of I'll puff and I'll blow your house down.

As for your AVI file, Have you got directX9? I had the same problem and it fixed it up. I really don't know. Maybe you should keep searching for AVI soft ware or try DivX.

btw Where is the FTP you got it from? I am very interested.

OK thanks, I agree with you that it's about doubt and struggle, I didn't know it belongs next to BD. I know BD is about a man who losses everything it aslo supprises me that people say it's about the story of Job, but it does make sense.

Also I'm about to download the 1997-09-13 Barcelona shn show, I have it in MP3 and it sounds pretty good, there is a cool part at the end of mysterious ways, Edge sings something like "i really want to show you Lord" and then Bono sings something like I really want to know you Lord and then does his falsetto singallong. Do you know what thats about Axver? It's been on my mind.

Sorry about all the questions, hehe :)

Gah, why can't I get torrents to work from SharingTheGroove? I use Azureus, and I just get this;

'Adding file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Andre\Application Data\Azureus\torrents\attachment.php'
Creating torrent for 'C:\Documents and Settings\Andre\Application Data\Azureus\torrents\attachment.php'
ShareManager: tracker must be configured'

Very confusing. I downloaded '85 Croke Park and one of the Wembley Nights and that never happened, but now anything I try from there fails. I don't really understand this torrent stuff ... though I know if I make a post on SharingTheGroove, I'll probably get yelled at.

neenie said:

I've only seen one person with it, and I think they were one of those elitist traders who demand something of equal rarity and whatnot.

Is it true that there is a pro-shot and soundboard for every show from Zootv and Popmart?
Yes, in a way. The band has soundboard recordings of every show since the October tour (maybe earlier) and proshot video of every show since the third leg of the Joshua Tree (but not by the professional film crews they get in for some nights). However, they keep these in their own vault and it's not likely that stuff's getting out.

Gee it's amazing that it took 15 years for the Reseda soundboard to come out. Do you know where i can get it?
I could upload it onto an FTP I use. This also answers your FTP question - on a LiveJournal U2 community, one member started his own FTP. It's great and I've uploaded a bunch of my stuff onto there. The community is U2_Boots and I think the specific post you'd want is here.

I love M'cphisto :yum: And he was best in the 05-11-1993-Rotterdam show, If you haven't got it Axver get it!! He sounds the funniest, during desire he sings a snippet of I'll puff and I'll blow your house down.
MacPhisto's simply the coolest. I need to get that Rotterdam show! I've only got the one from the night before - Bono's birthday party gig.

As for your AVI file, Have you got directX9? I had the same problem and it fixed it up. I really don't know. Maybe you should keep searching for AVI soft ware or try DivX.
Yeah, I've managed to get it working now with DivX, it's wonderful. Now I just need to learn how to burn AVI files as VCDs or DVDs (which are they meant to be?), and also how I can rip some of my VCDs in MPEG or AVI form so I can upload them.

OK thanks, I agree with you that it's about doubt and struggle, I didn't know it belongs next to BD. I know BD is about a man who losses everything it aslo supprises me that people say it's about the story of Job, but it does make sense.
One day I was thinking about the meaning of BD, how it's about a man who's lost everything and couldn't be happier. People said it was about Job and I agreed, but I realised BD's only the end of the story. Then WUDM entered my mind, and they just fit perfectly if you ask me. Listen to them together, perhaps.

Seems like that's a common occurrence actually. I've noticed at the end of a lot of performances of MW, Bono and Edge will sing stuff like "The Spirit moves", "I want to know You, Lord" and so forth. Makes sense, seeing the song's about the Holy Spirit, and I have an interesting theory about the ZooTV bellydancer during MW (for those who don't know, the bellydancer is now Edge's wife). For a while I wondered how they could have a bellydancer up during a song with that theme, but then it dawned on me - it was ZooTV, the most ironical tour of them all, and a massive send-up of the modern world. The world worships the female figure as a sort of god (just turn on your televisions, people!), and so I reckon Bono was very cleverly using irony by singing the song, at least in part, to a bellydancer. Have I already posted that theory here, or was it on my LiveJournal? Hmm.

I don't use Azureus. Try using this official Bit torrent software. That will work and you will find it very easy to use, All you do is download the bit torrent program from the download load page i posted, install the program and start down loading the bit torrents. I recommend you try using that program, there is alot of U2 stuff to download ;)

Darn! I want access to that vault

Wow! Thanks i just had a look at the FTP, I have to upload something before i can download. It would be cool if you could upload the Reseda soundboard. Is download speeds good? I'm thinking of uploading every Popmart show from the first leg to the Last leg. It's about 150 mp3 concerts @ 14 GIG it will take me a long time, but if you cant download all the shows i'll do only the Zootv soundboards if you want them.

Yeah, I've managed to get it working now with DivX, it's wonderful. Now I just need to learn how to burn AVI files as VCDs or DVDs (which are they meant to be?), and also how I can rip some of my VCDs in MPEG or AVI form so I can upload them.
Good, Try these programs, any of those video converters should be easy to use. I haven't done it in a while.

I can't remember if you posted your theory here, but it sounds right on! I love it how they changed the drum beat in MW during the last tour. Did you notice the drums sounded heavier? But i also love the popmart Barcelona show it sounds awesome when Bono and edge sing the I really want to know you lord bit.

Do you have any favorite part of a song Axver? that is only a short part of it?

Looks like i have to go back to work now.

Hey Janine,

I wanted to do a detailed reply but it's late and I'm stuffed.

Thanks for the BT software, I now have the Rotterdam DVD downloading, though rather slowly. 70MB of 3994 done, 304 hours left. Ah, the things I'll do for U2.

The FTP's very cool, I find maximum speeds I get are 12KB/sec, I need to upload more stuff there, we could make it really good. Currently, though, my ISP's being horrible and my speeds are not so great. Wow, you have all those Popmart shows? Tell me, do you have the Warsaw show? If so, could you PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE upload it? Heh, I don't presume you have the non-existent Lisbon and Thessaloniki shows?

Wow! Thanks i just had a look at the FTP, I have to upload something before i can download. It would be cool if you could upload the Reseda soundboard. Is download speeds good? I'll give the programs you recommended a try, probably tomorrow. Gah, today's just vanished, I've spent the last two hours on a forum about my ISP, whining and complaining. I normally love them, but the last week's been pain and I'm finally sick of it. I was running at dialup speeds earlier!

I didn't notice the MW Elevation change, that's interesting. I'll need to listen a bit closer.

Favourite parts of songs? 11 O'clock Tick Tock - "We thought that we had the answers/It was the questions we had wrong" and the second solo on both 5 June 1983, Red Rocks and 9 April 1981, Minneapolis. I also love The Cry leading up to the opening verse of The Electric Co., especially the version on the UABRS CD. The "Well I can't see why or/What for/What for/What for!/Aaahoooo, waaahoooo!" bit is so much fun. I also love the opening of Pride at Mannheim;

"Pride, Pride, In The Name Of Love
In the name of love
In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Holy
In the name of One"

I like it how in some versions of Pride, Bono modifies the chorus to "His name is the name of love." And people don't believe me when I say it's about Christ as well as MLK!

Right, gotta run. I need sleep.

Hi Axver,

I just finished downloading the DVD today, It is fantastic!!!! and it's indoors!!! It was so good to see a Zootv Video that wasn't from the outside broadcast tour. The only problem with it is with the sound, but it has 2 audio streams to choose out of Soundboard and audience. The soundboard sounds a little scratchy in some places, but when i was wearing my headphones i couldn't notice it that much. The picture is excellent!! and the is a lot of close ups, the person who taped the show did a good job. Another good thing about it, is that it has a feel of actually being there!!! I see it as one of my unique treasured U2 videos....

It's worth the download, It going to take you a long,long,long,long,long,long.....long....time!! It took me nearly a month to download because i kept putting it off. And it's very slow running at about 5 to 15 kpbs. Everytime i come this forum it would take at least 5 minutes to download a web page.

I have just started downloading the 1987-11-18 LA Dvd Pro-shot. They it was the Holy Grail of U2 Videos. The quality is supposed to amazing, I'm expecting R&H quality

Tell me, do you have the Warsaw show? If so, could you PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE upload it? Heh, I don't presume you have the non-existent Lisbon and Thessaloniki shows?

Sorry i don't have.......

That sucks!!! Your isp probably gets their bandwidth from commindico, i was going to get DODO Internet but found out they use the same, they had people complaining of dialup speeds. What plan are you on and what speeds are you supposed to get? Good luck.....

I'll have to give those a listen, I don't have much of their early stuff, I'll have to get it!! SBS at Red Rocks sounds awesome! Geez... I wish they could release this stuff on DVD what the hell is taking so long? I'm waiting and waiting, It's not like they aren't going to sell. Red rocks Zootv and Popmart are huge were huge moments for U2. Doesn't their management ever think about this? U2 is the biggest band in the world, and they were the best shows the world has ever seen. It's beyond me... It really is

"Pride, Pride, In The Name Of Love
In the name of love
In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Holy
In the name of One"

WOW! i never realized that that until Flynmonkie mentioned before with the lyric "One man betrayed with a kiss" I agree that he is singing about Christ as well as MLK in the "His name is the name of love."

It's amazing how many U2 songs pertain Christianity. It isn't there in your face, it's very subtle and you have to look deep into the lyrics, Thats another thing i love about U2 over contemporary Christian music.

Glad to hear how good the ZooTV video is! I'm really looking forward to seeing what one of the indoor ZooTV shows was like, I'm at nearly 10% and have about 160 hours left. I've been getting download speeds between 2-12KB/sec, I wish it was faster!

Yes, I hear that's brilliant. But the storm that arose when that leaked was massive! There've been some big debates sparked on Interference about it. I'll have to start on that one - would it be better to wait until this torrent's done or just run them simultaneously?

Your isp probably gets their bandwidth from commindico, i was going to get DODO Internet but found out they use the same, they had people complaining of dialup speeds. What plan are you on and what speeds are you supposed to get? Good luck.....
Actually, my ISP's running through Connect, just the last week or two there've been some issues. A lot of people have been a whole lot less patient than myself, but looks like things are really starting to get sorted. I'm with Dart, the 512/128 plan. I'd dearly love 1500 ... I'm hoping next year, I can live at my university with a private room and cable Internet. That'd be so nice.

I'll have to give those a listen, I don't have much of their early stuff, I'll have to get it!!
You really do! The early stuff's my favourite, it's really awesome. UABRS is my favourite tape, it's getting rather worn (especially around 11OTT, which I can't help but watch repeatedly).

U2 is the biggest band in the world, and they were the best shows the world has ever seen. It's beyond me... It really is
The thing is they need to time these things right - giving the market a new DVD of ZooTV at the same time as a DVD of a recent concert is released will not help sales. Apparently there are talks about releasing the full Red Rocks concert, so we've got to wait and see a bit there, while ZooTV should be soon. I think it would've happened on the tenth anniversary until Slane got in the way. Popmart ... not all of the band were happy with that and I don't know when they'll get around to it.

It's amazing how many U2 songs pertain Christianity. It isn't there in your face, it's very subtle and you have to look deep into the lyrics, Thats another thing i love about U2 over contemporary Christian music.
Yes, exactly. As Bono said, it's their fish in the sand, only there for those who want to see. I love it, it shows just how good Bono's songwriting is. It's interesting to see how it evolved, from Gloria to UTEOTW.

Have you uploaded anything onto that FTP I pointed you towards? I'm currently downloading the full Popmart Mannheim concert, got Outside Broadcast Washington DC overnight because I needed the MP3s. I'm going to try to get my school to play UTEOTW on chapel and I reckon the 16 August 1992 rendition is the best. What do you think?

would it be better to wait until this torrent's done or just run them simultaneously?

I think it would be better to finish the one your doing first, As they they said at STG "The more you can upload to a torrent, the more it will give you in download. So, if you spread yourself thin by having too many windows open, you will not get very good download speeds"

Are you browsing this forum and downloading at the same time? Slow isn't it?

That makes sense, I guess it will effect sales when too many DVD's are released at the same time. Why weren't they happy with the popmart video?

As i mentioned before, i don't have them. :sigh: I looked on my list and there was no Warsaw show, there was no Lisbon show, and there was no Thessaloniki show. I thought i had nearly all the popmart shows, because i downloaded "all" the Popmart stuff available from bloodredsky before it got shut down because of RIAA. What i have, is in their catalogue. You got me  I thought i had nearly everything. Anyway...just finished uploading the Superbowl SHN.

The DC show is alright, The start of UTEOTW sounds awesome with the guitar bit. However i like another version from a bootleg called "Outside Broadcast" I don't know where it's from, I'll upload right now, along with the 1992-08-13 - East Rutherford version.

Yeah, with it and the FTP both downloading at once, things definitely feel slower! Alright, thanks for the advice about downloading, I lurk on STG a bit but I feel uncomfortable there.

Yeah, you can't just flood the market with DVDs. It's not that they weren't happy with the Popmart video, it's that they were unhappy with Popmart in general. I think it was Larry who said he thought it was ludicrous, though by the fourth leg, the band really was on fire and hit their stride in a big way. Lovetown's the tour they most want to forget, apparently. Not because the music was bad - it was expletiving incredible - but because it was a hard time for the band internally. We all know about the 'dream it all up again' speech and how they headed off to Berlin to record AB.

As i mentioned before, i don't have them. :sigh: I looked on my list and there was no Warsaw show, there was no Lisbon show, and there was no Thessaloniki show.
That's a real shame! I know Lisbon and Thessaloniki don't exist (I think they do, just some tapers are keeping it rare), but I am sure Warsaw does, because I've seen traders state they have 94 of 96 Popmart shows.

Did I tell you about the bloke I know in Shepparton who has the whole U2BloodRedSky catalogue on twenty-eight DVDs? I envy him like you wouldn't believe. Thanks for the uploads! That's awesome, I have the Super Bowl video and MP3, but you can never go wrong with SHN. Isn't Outside Broadcast already on the FTP? I think it's taken from Austin, Texas, but I'm not 100%. I'll have to check For Love Or Money. The East Rutherford show would be fantastic! I'd love to hear that.
