if God's spirit were speaking to everyone then there would be no contradictions between all those who have a thus sayeth the LORD or a vision or near death experience. They would all be in harmony. If you charted the apparitions of Mary and any other who had personal visits from Jesus or saw heaven or hell there would be complete confusion but if we stick to the word of God and the spirit of God will guide us according to His word. The spirit will never tell you to leave your wife and marry another mans wife . The Spirit will not contradict the scriptures.
There are several problems with the above statements.
First: Jesus said He did and said only what the Father told Him - we don't!!! We are not the word of God, He is. That doesn't mean we can't hear from Him, but none of us are called "The Word of God", only, He does and says only what the Father told Him. So we are going to say things that are not of Him, thus contradiction!
That doesn't mean His sheep don't hear His voice, but only that we don't listen to Him like we should!
Second: Even Jesus didn't think understanding the depths of God was something to me fully understood - So we don't fully understand the depths of what God tells us even when we hear from Him. So I can read something that Rick Joyner heard from the Lord and get something out of it, but another person can also read it and get something different out of it and neither understand what the other got out of reading the same thing. But I am not really talking about Rick Joyner, am I, I am talking about the Bible. We all read it and come to different conclusions. So why did the people in the past treat the prophets who wrote the Bible so bad? Isn't it the same reason people come against a Rick Joyner.
Basically we are still not listening to the Lord like we should!!
Third: We people are rebellious sinners!! It shows up in us not seeking the Lord like we should, and that shows up in lots of different ways; confusion, contradictions, lack of harmony, and just plain wrong conclusions. Because of our wrong conclusion, we say things like "The Spirit will not contradict the scriptures" which of course is wrong. The Spirit will not contradict Himself, but because the Scriptures are not up for your interpretation but the Spirits, you don't know what is a contradiction, and your statement "The Spirit will not contradict the scriptures" clearly comes with the implication of leaning on your own understanding not the Holy Spirits! Again, we are not listening to Him like we should!! Because we are a stubborn and rebellious people!
And I could go on, but if you haven't picked up the message I have yet let me just post what the Father's message was.
"Mat 17:5... a voice out of the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!"
We are not doing that like we should, so 'contradictions', 'confusion', 'lack of harmony', and even the foolish mistake of calling the Scriptures by His name comes from not listening to Him like we should.
We tend to search the Scriptures thinking in them we have life, instead of coming to Him for a word from God.
Jn 5:39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
So we seek the Scriptures instead of seeking Him and what He has to say. We don't listen so the lines of text in the Bible have become the Word of God to us instead of Him!
Is 28:12,13.... He who said to them.... but they would not listen, So the word of the Lord to them will be... Line on line, line on line...That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared, and taken captive.
If, like Isaiah wrote, we don't listen the word of the Lord to us will be line on line, line on line - the Scriptures because we don't know Jesus Christ is really there to be inquired of! We don't seek Him, we search the Scriptures instead of turning to Him, just like it is written in the Scriptures! So we don't believe the very scriptures we are putting our faith in, because they say to put our faith in Him who speaks!
