"Investigators have been examining multiple financial issues, including whether Hunter Biden and his associates violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China, according to two people briefed on the probe.
Some of those transactions involved people who the FBI believe sparked counterintelligence concerns, a common issue when dealing with Chinese business, according to another source.
The FBI took possession of the laptop in late 2019, according to a computer repairman in Delaware who showed reporters a copy of a subpoena. The subpoena is real, according to people briefed on the matter, but the FBI and prosecutors in Delaware have refused to confirm the existence of the investigation.
It's unclear whether the laptop's contents are relevant to the ongoing federal probe and whether investigators can even use them, given potential chain of custody requirements for evidence.Investigators appear to be focused on Hunter Biden's business activities connected to China. Some of his business dealings in China are publicly known through interviews and documents released in September by Senate Republicans on the Finance Committee and the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.Hunter Biden had been involved in an earlier Chinese business venture that drew concerns in the Obama White House and Joe Biden's staff, according to the New Yorker. In 2013, Hunter Biden became involved with US and Chinese partners who were creating an investment fund called BHR Partners for deals outside China. Hunter Biden was an unpaid member of the BHR board and took an equity stake after his father left office, the New Yorker reported."
Hunter Biden: Federal criminal investigation focuses on his business dealings in China - CNNPolitics
"A former business associate of Hunter has come forward to say he can confirm the allegations.
Tony Bobulinski told Fox News that, contrary to Joe Biden's statements that he had nothing to do with his son's business affairs, Hunter "frequently referenced asking him for his sign-off or advice on various potential deals" in China.
Mr Bobulinski, who is reportedly a US Navy veteran, separately told Fox News' Tucker Carlson that he met on two occasions with Joe Biden to discuss business deals with China, the first time in May 2017 when the former vice-president was a private citizen.
He claims he asked Joe Biden's brother, James, whether the family was concerned about possible scrutiny of the former vice-president's involvement in a potential business deal with a Chinese entity. Mr Bobulinski told Fox News that James Biden replied: "Plausible deniability."
Hunter Biden: What was he doing in Ukraine and China? Your turn
As for the first, since when do you believe unnamed sources? I expect you not to believe those claims, since the people won't go on the record -- or do you want to admit to having a double standard? Regardless, what does that have to do with Joe Biden? I've heard zero claims that the FBI has been investigating Joe Biden, only Hunter.
As for Mr. Bobulinski -- I almost brought him up before but decided to wait, that post was long enough. This is a person that supposedly about 4 years ago was brought into all of this. Yet he didn't report it then, didn't tell anyone that I'm aware of. Instead, we learn that a couple of weeks before the NY Post story came out, he was in Washington working with members of the Trump administration and campaign to talk to a reporter of the Wall Street Journal. Of course, then the Wall Street Journal decided they couldn't run the story because they couldn't verify the story. Trump even Tweeted out about the "big bombshell" only to have nothing happen.
So, of course, Giuliani got tired and "leaked" a couple of copies of what are claimed to be Hunter Biden emails to the NY Post -- though with no header or other information that would allow those copies to be authenticated at all. Still, the Wall Street Journal wants no part of the story.
At this point, Mr. Bobulinski is tired of being "sidelined" so he goes public. At that point he is able to get on Tucker Carlson's show, and either finally realizes he needs to talk to the FBI or the FBI contacted him, and last the Senate reaches out to arrange a hearing with him.
So, why after about 4 years did he finally decide he needed to talk to the FBI or some type of law enforcement; and why did he only decide to do it after he tried to get an interview arranged by the Trump campaign?
Next, after talking to Bubinski, Tucker Carlson claimed that he had explosive new evidence -- with the implication that it had come from Bubinski. Of course, the evidence was in New York and they were sending it down. Oh, but it got "lost" so he couldn't present it that night but, oh, they've found it and we'll talk about it tomorrow -- and we had copies, so we really could have presented it before. So the next night comes and Carlson suddenly decides he shouldn't be mean to Hunter Biden anymore, the guys been through enough. No mention of the "explosive evidence" they had, that the original copies were arriving, no mention of Joe Biden; he just lets the story go. That doesn't sound at all suspicious to you?
Instead, what we see reported is that the Wall Street Journal reviewed the records provided by Bubinski and finds no evidence that Joe Biden was involved, they say, "Corporate records…show no role for Joe Biden.” Fox News examines the documents and also state that they “reviewed emails from Bobulinski related to the venture — and they don't show that the elder Biden had business dealings with SinoHawk Holdings, or took any payments from them or the Chinese.”
We'll see what happens with the DoJ and the Senate over the coming months. Of course, the FBI has been working on this case for over a year -- so if the evidence, particularly the laptop, is as strong as you suggest, you'd think someone would have been indicted by now.
Instead, no credible media source wanted to touch the laptop story -- the Wall Street Journal had it lined up as an exclusive story and ended up passing, even with the alleged "eyewitness." The person tasked to write the article for the Post refused to put his name on it; in fact, one of the reporters who was credited with the story didn't know about the story until after it was published. And to right wing media sources have stated that Bubinski had no actual evidence that showed Joe Biden was envolved.
