So I see. But how relevant is Colossians 2:7!
I actually have no idea why I did write Col 2:7, I did not have this verse open or something. So, maybe it was meant for you.

You mean He wants to bring you more troubles with this life? Or why?
If you're equipped for them he does, yes

It shall be meant for whoever reads it.

From the New Testament, marriage seems to me to be just allowed, if you cannot control yourself. Nothing recommended.

The Christian perspective is to have joy even when it’s a disaster because we have assurance in his love. We know he gives in abundance & hears his people. We don’t believe in accidents. We don’t believe in mistakes. We don’t believe in coincidences. We don’t believe in luck. We don’t believe in chance. We have confidence in the unseen. We have faith he will meet our needs. We believe he’s good even when it’s not. We believe he knows what’s best for us. We know he gives what we need in the amount we need it when we need it. We don’t believe ‘it’s too late’ or ‘nothing good can from it’. He knows our hearts & nothing is a surprise to him. We don’t believe in disorder. We don’t believe in chaos.

Aaaaaaughhh. It’s an oxymoron. How do you be content single but still want to date & get married!!?!?!?!??!

It’s a 3-sided square! Or organized chaos!

I think there's someone on here that is content being single and desires to get married...if I'm remembering correctly.

I don't remember which thread it was.

I am not a happy single. I am a miserable single.

It's because we desire something that we don't have yet, so we focus more and more on it, which leads to depression.

If you're content, you won't act on leaving Singleness. That's the oxymoron.
Unless of course God brings it regardless like I was telling myst. Hmmmm..........

Yeah. It’s like I asked earlier. Is my spirit upset because it knows it wasn’t promised marriage, or is it upset because it knows it will get married & it’s just tired of waiting. My goodness, has it waited a long time!

Well then you shall have confidence it is only for a season, maybe a little while longer. Why would you be depressed about what God has promised you? He's given it to you & it's a done deal. Good things take time.

Contentment in singleness doesn't negate a desire for marriage. It simply means that you have surrendered that aspect of your life to God and you choose to make the best of your current situation. As Christians we should have joy in all stages of life. You can strongly desire something ( that has eluded you) and still feel peace in your current situation. The whole purpose of life is to follow Christ. That is what brings us contentment. That doesn't mean you won't look for opportunities to date someone. It just means that you can function and have some happiness and purpose in your life.

He can take it all! I can't do it by myself

I think that is the problem with your mindset and what is conributing to your anxiety. It's actually not a numbers game ( not for a Christian who is seeking God's will for their life). Going on a hundred dates doesn't really help you. It just gives you the illusion of options. You should be focused on connecting with one decent person who God brings into your life. So, theoretically, you only need to meet one person. Meeting lots of single women is helpful in the sense that it hones your relationship and dating skills ( and that definitely has value), but it doesn't really get you any closer to your goal of marriage unless you plan to marry whoever shows an interest in you. Also, it is good to keep in mind that it takes longer to find a life partner if you have some standards and are a Christian. You aren't going to match with as many women and that is to be expected. I would keep trying to meet singles and not get so discouraged if it takes awhile to meet the right one
THIS. This is what I wanted to say, but I didn't have the patience to, lol.

For the record, I absolutely do not subscribe to the "God would rather we all stay single and unmarried" line of thinking. This, in my opinion, is the slogan of the bitterly single. Or bitterly married, for that matter. Romantic love and marriage are absolutely celebrated in Scripture (Song of Solomon, anyone?), our relationship with Christ itself is painted as a bride and groom, not to mention that without Christian marriage, Christian families would cease to procreate and raise children (which is also praised in Scripture - Psalm 127). Pauls' opinions in the Bible are given as that - his opinions. As with all Scripture, it is God-breathed, and it has value, but singleness is not a command, nor is it "what God would prefer for all Christians".

Just my two cents.

Yes, Yankee's post makes a ton of sense. Especially if God wants me to get married, then there's no reason to fret about the #s.

It is the One I am interested in! And only the One! If it is not the One, I will be unhappy. I know this!

My goodness it is hard for me to be single! I pray this is just a temporary state , but may God give me the peace & joy either way, whatever his infinite wisdom dictates

I'd be careful of the phrase 'Paul's opinions.'

Singleness does have its advantages over marriage, & Paul is giving a warning you lose those advantages when married. It's a technicality, but I'd call it more advice than an opinion, if that makes sense.
