  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sin is...

Genesis 26:4-5

God's holy laws. The same one's Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel were supposed to keep. God's law IS the tree of life. Us deciding to disobey and judge things for ourselves IS the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

To sin, is to disobey God's law. Think about it, without the law, how could we not sin? What is sin? Without the law, how could we be obedient to God? What are we being obedient to? By doing away with the law, just as occurs today, it leaves thousands of interpretations for what's right up in the air. When, there's no need for it. God told us how to live, He told us how we're to be. People - the flesh - just don't like to accept it.
The pattern in scripture is redemption then the law. The law is for God's people. So I agree that the law is important. However, keeping the law is not what keeps us saved since we cannot keep the law perfectly. Fortunately, Christ led a life of perfect obedience, and that righteousness is imputed to us.

No, could you please explain.
“So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:17-18‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It is, but there are two seeds in the world. Yahuwah's, and satan's. One, desires to follow the law, and the other desires to disobey the law.

Jeremiah 31:33

Matthew 7:23

That word "iniquity" was translated from the Greek word "anomia" the greek word "anomia" and it literally means, one without law and or lawlessness. Jesus literally said that He will say, depart from me, you who work lawlessness. You, if you believe, and love the Father, you are God's people. And the law is for you. You aren't justified by it, but it's a sign of your salvation. It's not the root of your salvation, Yeshuwah is the root. Obedience to the law is the fruit.

Yes. I just assumed that you knew that Romans was an epistle, so the question threw me.
Oh well what I'm saying is that epistles were written to churches led by saved people. So if romans is an epistle and wasn't for an saved church then who?

And from that you believe you still sin?

How can you believe your dead to the law, flesh, and sin but at the same time continue to sin.
You better go rethink what you have been taught, someone sold you a bill of goods, and by it you have been deceived.

The Bible says that in a man is no good thing... but at the same time it says every good gift is from above... and at the same time the Bible says that once you walk in faith and receive the Holy Spirit (which is from above) you can add virtue aka goodness or integrity read these scriptures written by peter 2nd peter 1:
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Not only are we expected to get saved and by the Spieit on the inside which is from
Above be good but if you aren't able to add things to your faith and resist sin then you're blind according to the Bible or in error. Also you're purged of these sins through repentance for sins, baptism for the washing of sins and Holy Ghost to resist sins

I never said it was for an unsaved church. That's not even a thing.

I'm not saying I'll never ever sin again or haven't sinned before cause all have sinned. But yes baptism washes away those sins you were born with and added early in life while the Holy Ghost gives you the ability to resist sin and repentance a changed heart aka mind about it. So yes since I'm born again I no longer have sin sitting on the inside at least if that's your question... but I still have this flesh I must resist everyday which is why I say it's still possible to yeah sin. Could say a white lie or something

.

The only problem is you have totally misinterpreted what Rom.7 said.

You have total misunderstood what Paul was Teaching, and the reconciliation of his own comments.

If you think you are saved while in sin you've been sold the goods not me. What is salvation useful for if it can't save you? Yet people like you still buy into such an ideology. Also again I showed you scripture 2 peter 1:5-9 or so indicating that we can be good through the Spirit above where good gifts come from ... paul is just saying him alone following the law couldn't be good... he's not referring to himself after Holy Spirit reception.
