  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've had so many prayer requests lately (and I have really appreciated everyone that has taken the time to pray).

As an update on my sister and my nephew, she is doing much better and he will be able to go home from the NICU this week. My parents are out there in CA now to be with her (we're staggering our visits so she won't be overwhelmed).

I take my licensing boards next Thursday (and starting the job I've been offered is conditional on whether or not I pass). I am understandably stressed out. I really need to pass. I've already had to reschedule once so I could go out to CA to be with my sister, and that has thrown off everything for a week or so regarding my study schedule. Please keep me in your prayers as I get last minute studying in and take my exam.
Thanks for the update. I had wondered how they were doing. Continued prayers - you shouldn't ever feel bad for asking. :)

Continued prayers for you all. Please let us know how your exam goes and any updates on your family!

On a side note, thank you all for prayers for my grandmother after her fall. Praise God she is walking again, often without a cane! Her memory is still failing but we are very thankful for her physical and emotional improvements. She even was able to come with us to Ireland (where her family came from) for her 94th birthday!

Prayers for you through this stressful time and for a good outcome! So glad to hear your sister and nephew are doing better.

I should probably ask for prayer. I am going in for some medical testing in the morning that has me a little worried. I would appreciate your prayers. :)
Definitely praying.

I appreciate the prayers. I have had some doors opened which could prove very beneficial. But still working through several appointments. I have to go back tomorrow morning, in fact. So I would appreciate any continued mention in prayer any of you might be willing to offer. Thank you all, SO very much.

If anyone could say some prayers for me...
A couple of big stresses: a family canoe camping trip with rainy weather now forecast; cancelling looks out of the question.
And every five years, I have to ask for permission to live in the country I live in, fill out papers, hope that neither irregularities in reporting nor the ambitions of people far away who make decisions about me would bring my life here crashing down. Next week is going to be rough...

Thank you for prayers - I have been accepted to a program and had two days of testing, but I have follow-ups next week which are a little unsettling. I'm not sure how quickly results will come back. Good and less good results so far, but too early to tell. Prayers very much appreciated in the meantime.

Did you know they send oil from the vigil lamp of St. John Maximovich for the asking? I requested two bottles. I want to give one to our priest. He has been a very important Saint to me, and I've been reading a book about him lately. I need to follow up with the monastery - I had requested an icon of St. John Maximovich mounted, but I think it got lost in the shuffle. I have a paper one from the calendar Presbytera gave me though. :) God bless her. :)

Update, survived the boat trip, though I don't want to repeat the experience. We are at home, washing up and trying to recover. The first day was not good, rain on and off, the night was terrible; it rained for hours and the tent leaked. The second day we got caught in the rain on the water, but met and camped with friends the second night (long story). Today there were rocks in the water and other pitfalls, but we got through them. I was at the end of my strength, doing almost 30 miles. It's not much for a young sportsman, but for an old guy like me to be the main power at the oars...
It's really scary when you are really far from any help if anything goes wrong.
Our hired transport guy met us and hauled us back to the city where our car was parked (outside the walls of a monastery!), between packing, unloading boats, loading the van, unloading the van, sorting and loading our two cars, then a two-hour drive home - and it's no fun to carry seven people when you have only six seats and seat belts. Unlike the US, you have to drive past police officers standing there watching the cars and holding a striped black-and-white baton. If they point at you and signal "pull over", you're screwed if anything is not right or legal, and sometimes even when everything is.
Thank you for your prayers!
The other and bigger thing is coming up tomorrow. It's really hard not to worry.

Survived both some kind of nerve attack (thought it might be a heart attack) and the "INS", where I also had a bad moment and was praying overtime. Plus, I have to go back and see them again fairly soon. It's just like maneuvering past really bad rocks in the river. The thought of your boat sinking with your family in it, far from help, is a completely to-be-missed experience.

Thanks again!
