Not going to do your work for you....time for you to do your own.....
It's my job to explain your posts?
You realize that not making a choice is a choice.....
No, I do not realize that.
You then concede the insults, but that's okay because they are in the bible. A strange sense of morality you have there.
I have made my choice....AP makes his; it has nothing to do with me.
This is what I come here to observe.

You obviously cannot make such a choice of beliefs, but hold others accountable for theirs, and rather than acknowledge this hypocrisy, you evade and obfuscate.

I have done nothing of the sort....it is simply your failure to understand...

What is there to understand? If you think belief is subject to conscious choice, then do it.

Who better to convince yourself than you?

It's a yes/no question. There is no dim switch. A fish in a bowl doesn't recognize the world outside the bowl, either. So are you a fish in a bowl, or do you believe in existence outside of what you can see and feel?
As I already pointed out, you first need to establish this entity exists and that I therefore have a real choice regarding whether I want to have a relationship with it. Until you do, your yes/no question is pointless.

You can believe what you want, it doesn't make it necessarily true, does it? God showed Himself, people didn't like it, and killed his human manifestation. It's been written about for millenia, and you don't want to believe it's real.:doh::doh:
So what? Why should we believe your ancient scriptures and not the ancient scriptures of some other religion?

Seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. It takes a little effort....God will not shove salvation down your throat. If you are not receptive, that is your choice.
Maybe you should take your own advice seriously too?

When you become eternally separated from God, then find out that he is everything we believe, and much, much more, you will gnash your teeth, you will think you're burning from lack of God's grace. The hell is more internal than external.

What about when you find out that god is actually everything that muslims believe?

What do you not understand about my answer? It is plain and straight forward. If you can't understand it, that is not my fault. And yes, you can chose what you believe.

Really.

Can you "chose" right now to believe that santa is real?
And I do mean believe. Just like you believe that the car you drive is real.

Not just professing belief, but actually believe.

ps: if you answer that question with "yes", I will not believe you, I'm afraid to say.

What part of "I have made my choice" do you not understand?
Wife: What would you like for dinner?
Husband: Steak.
Wife: That has been your choice for the last month or so. Can you not choose something else?
Husband: What part of "I have made my choice" do you not understand?

Your posts are evidence that beleif is not a conscious choice, that it is something not under our direct control.

Do you think people should be held accountable for things beyond their control?

I seriously contemplated studying theology at university and entering into a ministry of some kind, so what was that about a lack of effort?
To use your own phrase, so what? You obviously don't have the faith of a mustard seed. It's funny you're on a Christian board arguing against Christians.

In the Gospel, Jesus told his disciples, those who followed him very closely, that they must eat his flesh and drink his blood in order to have eternal life. Many of them, though they could see Jesus, turned away and went back to their former lives. How much more so for someone who can't see Him?

I know that St. Nicholas is real.
Not just professing belief, but actually believe.
No doubt about it.
ps: if you answer that question with "yes", I will not believe you, I'm afraid to say.
So what are you really doing here?

Ask as much as you want, the answer is still the same.....We are held accountable for our choices.

I know, that is why this is so fascinating.

It's like you want your theology to be perceived as "moral" by common standards, but if you acknowledge that belief is not a conscious choice, you are depicting it as morally bankrupt.
..We are held accountable for our choices.
What about other choices?

In your theology, if I choose to slaughter everyone on my street, will that action preclude me from entering "Heaven"?

Where have I said the belief is not a conscious choice?

In your theology, if I choose to slaughter everyone on my street, will that action preclude me from entering "Heaven"?
No, but it sure does complicate things for you though.....
