  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Wednesday 28th June - Uzbekistan

Since the May 2005 demonstations in Andijan city in the Ferrghana valley, the political, economic, and religious climates have deteriorated for the people, and the pressure on the church has become much worse. Police officers have interrogated many pastors, created extensive personal files on every Uzbek Christian leader, and attempted to close even registered churches. Give thanks for those Christian leaders who are determined to stay in spite of the persecution.

Thursday 29th June - Turkmenistan

Police in Turkmenistan's capital city, Ashgabat, broke up a Christian house group meeting on the 3rd of May, confiscating personal belongings and subjecting the group to extensive interrogation. They are now very fearful of further raids. Please pray that when they are afraid they will put their trust in the Lord and that he will deliver them from harm (Psalm 56).

Ask the Lord to comfort Ghenet Gebremariam. Two days after she was arrested and failed by Eritran police, her six-month-old son, Hazaiel, died on his sickbed. She and two other women, Meslale Abraham and Alangshe Tsagay, from Nefasit, ten miles east of the apital Asmaria, were detained on accusations of 'actively witnessing about Christ'.

Sunday 9th July - Colombia

Please pray for an indigenous community who lost a couple of churches after a mob of insurgents went on a destructive rampage in the village. Please pray they will seek refuge in the Lord and will trust in His promises to care for them. Pray also for the Lord to protect and guide our field staff in service to the Persecuted Church.

Friday 14th July - Algeria

In March, President Boutefika of Algeria issued a presidential order convering the 'conditions and rules for the excercise of religious worship other than Muslim.' This new law will most likely restrict the freedom of the 10,000 christians. Pray that the law will not be carried out as strictly as it is on paper. Pray that the Lord will bless diplomatic efforts to have the law eased or even abolished.
