  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Sunday 4th June - Iraq

Many believers have left the country because of the violence. In Mousul, there were about 150,000 Christians but local believers say that 40 percent (60,000) have fled to surrounding villages because of fear of violence or because of direct personal threats to their safety. But praise God for granting many Christians courage and strength to stay. May he encourage their hearts and strengthen them as they share their faith in word and deed (2 Thessalonians 2:17).

Christians from overseas may worship as they please, but if a Muslim is found to have converted, hr will be given 3 days to recant his new faith and return to Islam. Failure to do so could result in imprisonment or death. Pray for believers from overseas to be bold in reaching out in spite of the dangers to themselves and those who might convert.

Wednesday 7th June - Iran

Give thanks that Takoosh and her family have experienced Gods healing and grace through the tragedy of Haik's murder. Thank God that modern media like vedeo, satellite TV and films, enable their four children to reach Iranian people across the world, including inside Iran, with the Gospel. Pray that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly in this country (2 Thessalonians 3:1).

Thursday 8th June - Mexico

Please continue to pray for the Acteal prisoners, nine years into 36-year sentences for the murder of 39 people in 1997. The lawyer for the defence says, "Justice is not served by holding them liable for what so much evidence shows they didn't do." Pray for wisdom and protection for the lawyer , and perserverance and courage for the prisoners and their families.

Monday 12th June - India

Punjab police have assured members of a house church in Bhatinda district that they will help regotiate a compromise with Hindu extremists who disrupted an Easter service on April 16th. The group of five extremists warned the House of Prayer church not to hold further meetings. Pray for the Christians to be able to forgive the fundamentalist Hindu group and for this to be a strong witness to the police and the extremists.

Tuesday 13th June - India

Please pray for Sister Vineeta and her husband, Rajerdra falsely accused of involvement in a rape. Even though they may be out of prison, the trail against them continues and Hindu Fundamentalists are influencing the police to implicate them in further legal wrangeles. While they await the outcome of the trial, the couple have been suspended from the goverment jobs so please pray that they will trust the Lord to meet their needs.

Abe (not his real name), an evangelist, is in prison awaiting trial in West Java, accused by his family of defaaming Islam. On a visit to the prison on 27th March, Open Doors found Abe under great distress. He looked very vulnerable. Please pray for protection from abuse by prison guards, and for spiritual protection as he is frequently visited by Muslims clerics who offer him freedom if he returns to Islam.

Saturday 24th June - Kenya

A young Muslim background believer accepted Christ five years ago. When his community found out, he fled the area hoping to take refuge with family, but his relatives had been informed about his conversion and he was held hostage. The man managed to escape and is still holding on to his faith in Christ, but is being monitored and fears for his life. Pray that God will bless him, comfort him and be his refuge.

Sunday 25th June - Kenya

A demonstration was held in north eastern Kenya in March in protest over ten Muslims who accepted Christ. The protestors demanded that all the churches in the area be closed and all the missionaries evacuate the area. The new converts went into hiding. Pray for their safety and that God will send them someone to educate them further in Biblical principals.

Monday 26th June - Southern Sudan

During a recent trip through the Upper Nile area in Souther Sudan, a co-worker of Open Doors came across a huge mosque and a programme run by Islamic Relief Worldwide. Pray for Sudanese Christians to stand strong and that they will not be tempted to convert to Islam due to the wealth and prosperity that Muslims are offering in war-torn areas.

Police officers burst into the home of a Protestant pastor in north-west Uzbekistan in April, chraging the pastor Lunkin Sergey, and another believer, with 'breaking the laws on teaching religion'. In a seperate incident, three Christians in Tashkent were arrested on 21st of April while visiting and helping to feed patients at a tuberculosis hospital for children. Please pray for police to leave the believers in peace to continue meeting together.
