This is a question that has been doing some rounds. Once a person is saved, is that for an eternity? Or can a person loose their salvation, if so, how?

Yeah see, I'm looking for something a little bit better. I want quotations thrown in from ancient times. The question of once saved always saved is resolved! Check out: http://www.christianforums.com/t7557780/
According to my bro Paul, the person is saved, but he shall suffer loss. This is a question that has been doing some rounds. Once a person is saved, is that for an eternity? Or can a person loose their salvation, if so, how?
According to my bro Paul, the person is saved, but he shall suffer loss.
What is meant by that
Young) 1 Corinthians 3:15 if of any the work is burned, he shall suffer loss;
and himself shall be saved, but so as through fire.
2 Peter 3:10 Shall be arriving yet day of Lord as thief in night, in which the Heavens boomingly shall be passing-away, elements yet burning shall be being dissloved, and land and the in her works shall be being burned
[Reve 16:15]
but so as through fire.
First, let me say that a True Christian will not continue to live in sin even if he believes he can never lose his Salvation. Because our conversion resulted in a completely new nature, and our desire is to no longer live in sin. Yes, we still sin, but instead of wallowing in it as we once did, we now hate it and wish to be delivered from it. The idea of “taking advantage” of Christ’s sufferings and sacrifice by continuing to live sinful lives is unthinkable. If a person believes himself to be a Christian, yet still desires and practices a lifestyle of sin, he has reason to doubt his salvation.
Eternal Security means that once a Christian has become a Christian, there is absolutely nothing they can do to lose their salvation. Scripture would indicate that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit at the time of salvation.
Ephesians 4:30
“And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit, who sealed you for the day of redemption.”
There is no suck thing as once saved always saved. If there were all do evil once coming to God and be saved. That does sound unholy. This is a question that has been doing some rounds. Once a person is saved, is that for an eternity? Or can a person loose their salvation, if so, how?
No. you don't judge a octrine's correctness by how well people do or don't abide by it.quote=Cuddles222;Maybe a good way to tell which doctrine is right might be if a person has changed after the moment they came to Christ.
Well, you''re right we are saved by grace, not how well we co-operate with it or not. It is by his mercy, not by our worthy performance. So maybe the person who is not the same as they used to be could be considered saved, and, the person who is clinging for life to every outward commandment in the New Testament for proof of their trying to be saved, could be considered questionable.
Adam was created in a pure state, he was alive spiritualy but he lost his salvation through sin
same with us, once we are saved we can reject Jesus who is Life itself through sin

Some people might say you can't lose what you never had. Matthew 7 makes clear there are many people who profess they know and love Jesus, who consider Him to be their Lord and Savior but who will be turned away from heaven because Jesus never knew them (as Paul Washer likes to explain this, it's like trying to get into the White House saying you know the President ... this won't get you in; but if the President comes out and says he knows Paul Washer doors will open wide).
There are those who will cite that God 'predestines' some men to salvation and that Jesus will not lose a single one that the Father gives to Him. Others will cite there is the unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit and one is only saved if their name is in the book of life and that names can be blotted out of that book.
I have yet to see an explanation that adequately ties in everything the Bible has to say about salvation but I am certain of this, the saved will have their lives turned around by God and will leave the practice of sin the carnal world loves and embrace the holiness of God. As one pastor for whom I have the greatest respect put it, no one can 'lose' their salvation, they can however throw it away.
