And what is "the gospel" that was preached to Abraham?

You told me once that "do not take God's name in vain" is the only commandment not repeated in the NT. So you must know where the other first four are listed. Where?

I don't know that, because God says because the Hebrews hearts were cold and far from Him is why He needed a New Covenant.

So, it seems to me that Christ had to re-tell people to love and what that love is all about in detail, because the people of the Old Covenant never got God's memo.

Did that happen in "real life" with a quote of someone other than "you" to claim it??

If so , would it be too much trouble to ask you to post it???
Hello Bob.

You also abolished nearly the entire law yourself.

You abolished sacrificial law, offering laws, civil laws, health laws, food laws.
You abolished temple law, priesthood law, all manner of moral law, e.t.c.

Unless of course you still conduct sacrifices, obey civil law, enforce the health laws.
Ensure that offerings are within the requirements of the law.

Do you follow the law or have you abolished the law?

David, SDA's keep health laws and the Ten Commandments which are moral laws. I don't understand your post, unless you were being ironic (that he believes one thing, and uses scriptures that say the opposite, i.e #35). However, I haven't been following your conversation with Bob. Sometimes he posts scriptures that you and I interpret differently than he does. It all boils down to the purpose of the indwelling Holy Spirit which he doesn't understand.

Hello Hark.

Nothing about abolishing the law, you must be kidding.

Did that happen in "real life" with a quote of someone other than "you" to claim it??

If so , would it be too much trouble to ask you to post it???

(And so sticking with the pattern of "quoting nothing" for your false accusation you then post this)

Just not in real life.... thus you quote "nothing but you" again.

Is this a form of creative writing for you??

True ... and you told me that this does not matter to you because of course - it does not mean a thing to you ... and obviously it is not a legit reason for trashing any part of God's Word.

My question was sincere, and you answered with hatred. That's murder.

Hello 1stcenturylady.

There are so many laws given in the law of Moses.

Two separate areas in the law are shown below.

Food laws - on what is clean and unclean, on cooking and storing food, e.t.c.

Health laws - on menstruation, seminal emissions, skin disease and mildew, e.t.c.

These health laws are different to the food laws.

Why would someone follow one of these laws above and shred the rest?

Hello Bob.

So do you follow the law or not?

Sounds like you have not read Romans 8:4-10 yet... Paul says it is only the "lost" the "do not submit to the LAW of God neither indeed CAN they"--

And I believe you may have already agreed that the saints should not be taking God's name in vain or dishonoring parents.

so I will stick with the Bible on this one.

That passage in Romans is not comparing saved to lost, but comparing Spirit led believers to carnal believers.
There are many believers today who are focused on the things of the flesh. Not every Christian is living a totally victorious life.
There are believers today (that would be me and anybody reading this) who don't obey all 10 of the Commandments.
But God (My 2 favorite words in Scripture) has mercy on us (us would mean me and anybody reading this).

Same thing. And a bit self-conflicted to say it since the saved are the spirit filled that belong to Christ and the carnal are the lost -- those who are not Christ's at all according to Romans 8.

Rom 8
4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

The point remains.

The idea that the Gospel is that the saved person is hostile toward God, is not Christ's at all, is devoid of the Spirit... is in fact "another Gospel" entirely.
Were the people Paul called saints not Spirit-filled believers?
He addressed them as saints in 1 Corinthians 1:1
He called them carnal in 1 Corinthians 3:1.

You teach LAW. I teach SPIRIT.

The letter of the law, kills. But the Spirit gives life.

What you don't understand is, walking in the Spirit does not produce lawlessness. Just the opposite. The reason why we are not UNDER the law, is because the Spirit replaces the law with righteousness. Where the law showed us our sin, the Spirit made us dead to sin. So where there is no sin, there is no need for the law. Get it?

And 1050 commands in the NT to go with the 640 in the OT
Hello Bob.

How do you understand the following verse.

1 Corinthians 14:37
If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.
