I was so shocked when I passed 50ks I burst into tears. Silly me - that 50k mark just looked like it was receeding further onto the horizon instead of getting closer.

i believe they're allowing uploads on the site and once that's processed, you'll get a purple bar and a congratulations then you can throw a party for yourself.

I have been writing so hard this month I think I'm going to be a bit lost without it but the kids will be pleased to have the computer back -oh, and maybe a mummy who has something other on her mind than the holes in her plot.

No trouble validating. I uploaded all along as I was worried I'd get to 49 999 and not know how to do it so I got my oldest girl to show me & 'practised' all month.lol. As it ate between 10 & 20 words every time that was one of my better ideas.
We are too far from a centre for me to do any partying even if the kids could get over the shock of mum going out on the town like that. I hope you have a really great time if you go.
I am going to recover from NaNo & write something silly for CF & in a month I'll have a look at the manuscript and see if editing will salvage it at all. I hate editing. Necessary but tedious.
Thanks for the support everyone, especially over the last stretch when I'd finished but didn't have enough words. Just knowing I could procrastinate in here & post drivel was sooo helpful.

That's a yummy little excerpt! I like the way you weave the details about the characters and their activities through and around the dialog.
That's one of the things I need to work on now that I'm in edit mode. In some areas I have page after page of dialog with very little description of what's going on while they yap.

Yes, near-future SF. Sort of dystopian. The first 10k words, including that excerpt which is most of Chapter 2, are one bodaciously long prologue. The rest of the story is set about 8-10 years in our future.
I'm posting my second draft (as I revise it) on an arts-related forum in a members-only area that doesn't get crawled by google. I'll be glad to send you a link to the forum if you're interested in reading the rest.
