Muslim-only gated community with mosque, Islamic school, apartments and childcare centre rejected

A masterplan to build an exclusive Muslim enclave complete with a mosque and apartments has been shut down by Brisbane City Council amidst heavy opposition from the local community.

The Australian International Islamic College lodged plans to add an Islamic mosque, 120 residential apartments, childcare centre, medical centre and retail space to its existing site at Durack, in Brisbane's southern outskirts.

Residents opposed to building a sprawling Muslim-only gated community sprawling across 2.7 hectares of land lodged a petition with the council in May, arguing it was incompatible with the area's multicultural values.

Seems like you'd downplay anything in favor of Islamic isolationism. They'd have their own residences, grocery store, shopping, hospital, and Mosque -all protected by WALLS!

...There's no excuse for such a thing to exist, aside from the Muslims who are for it just *hate* non-Muslims and different cultures. Why else would they choose to barricade themselves off from the outside world?

It is funny that there are people that would have no problem rounding up a bunch of Muslims and putting them in a cramped walled “detention center” but when the Muslims choose to build their own cramped walled community, the same people get all freaky about it. It seems that some people just like to create more drama in the world.

Walls of secrecy create lots of drama. And who would buy property adjacent to this compound? Right, only Muslims, which would further expand their 'territorial claim' for Allah. There's always a master plan involved with Islam.

It's the opposite of the words & actions of Christ. Instead of go out & love, preach the Gospel, these folks see hate for Muslims as their duty.

Such an enclave will never produce truly naturalized citizens, not even after seven generations.

In effect, therefore, Australia has decided to forbid foreign nations to claim their soil. Good on them, but they will need to apply this principle consistently in the future to ensure the prosperity of their nation.

I don't hate the police but I consider them dangerous, and I advise everyone to keep their distance from them. I also wouldn't buy property next to a police station.
