The infamous Steele dossier from the Russia probe barely generated any attention from the mainstream media when it was largely discreditedlast week -- but critics feel the same pundits who once hyped the story are showing bias by ignoring the latest development.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday released newly declassified documents that they say “significantly undercut” the “reliability” of the dossier. MSNBC was arguably the most egregious when it came to pushing the Steele dossier, as Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid were two of its most high-profile cheerleaders -- but MSNBC did not cover the latest news from the time it broke on Friday through Wednesday afternoon, according to transcripts.

CNN didn't cover the newly declassified documents either, according to a search of transcripts. ABC's "World News Tonight," "NBC Nightly News" and "CBS Evening News" didn't cover the documents from July 17-20.

Cornell Law School professor and media critic William A Jacobson feels the lack of coverage is simply an example of media bias.

Media ignores newly declassified documents that undercut once-hyped Steele dossier
Found this through the link in your article. The link gives a 401 error but if you wait it takes you to the home page and from there I did a search for more information.

The New York Times: “The documents included an F.B.I. memo recounting a three-day interview in January 2017 with a person who served as a primary source for Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer who compiled the dossier for a research firm paid by Democrats. They also included [Peter Strzok’s] notes disputing aspects of a New York Times article the next month… In his annotations about two weeks later, Mr. Strzok questioned the reliability of the dossier. Reacting to a line in the newspaper article that senior F.B.I. officials believed that Mr. Steele had a credible track record, Mr. Strzok wrote in the margins: ‘Recent interviews and investigation, however, reveal Steele may not be in a position to judge the reliability of his subsource network.’ Nevertheless, in the ensuing months, the Justice Department twice sought and obtained a court’s permission to renew a wiretap of the former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page, recycling language from earlier applications that relied in part on information from the Steele dossier.
  • The Wall Street Journal: “A Senate committee released newly declassified documents that showed the Federal Bureau of Investigation was wary in early 2017 of a dossier compiled by ex-British spy Christopher Steele that helped stir a narrative, later debunked, that the Trump campaign had close ties to Russian intelligence. The documents released Friday by the Senate Judiciary Committee included FBI notes from three days of interviews with a primary source of Mr. Steele who cast doubt on some of the dossier’s contents. FBI notes from the interview in early 2017 indicated that Mr. Steele’s source had told him information about Mr. Trump’s alleged sexual escapades was “rumor and speculation” that he was unable to confirm.”
  • Politico: “The documents suggest that even as press reports began to describe connections between Americans in Trump’s orbit and figures in Russia’s shadowy intelligence services, the FBI had gathered little, if any, evidence that such ties existed.”
ICYMI: Judiciary Committee Releases Declassified Documents that Substantially Undercut Steele Dossier, Page FISA Warrants | United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary

They listed articles in several other publications but they didn't have any more info. than these.
I didn't see anything really new here, but I could be missing something. We already knew that there were problems with using the Steele document to renew FISA warrants.

Yes, the going down in history as
The Old Fake Impeachment.

Some heads are going to roll.

Did Biden also know?
Probably so but, he can't remember.

M
apparently it's not Biden who doesn't remember that the Steele document had nothing to do with the real impeachment President Trump will always be footnoted about in history books.

Biden doesn't know where to even begin.
His plans are so elementary.
Most every issue way, way over his head.

Probably plans on calling in sick
durning debate days.
Now that actually whould be his smartest move.

Meanwhile, maybe a basement remodel job?

No, they didn't ignore it, but it wasn't a big story. CNN's article notes why:

"Neither document provides significant new information about the FBI's Russia investigation. The issues Steele's sub-source raises were summarized in last year's Justice Department inspector general report that detailed numerous problems with foreign surveillance warrants obtained on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, while Strzok's concerns echo 2017 testimony from former FBI Director James Comey.

"But the newly declassified documents add additional details to the understanding of the FBI's Russia probe, which is being scrutinized by multiple GOP-led Senate committees. ..."

Trump administration declassifies more documents from FBI's Russia investigation - CNNPolitics

The Wikipedia article is a convenient summary of the document and evaluation of it. Steele dossier - Wikipedia. It was known from the beginning that it was a collection of rumors, of varying likelihood. The main concern, that Russia was helping Trump, has been accepted even by Senate Republicans. But many of the specifics are not true and many are impossible to verify one way or the other.

The document was not the basis of the Mueller investigation. It was apparently used to get warrants to investigate Carter Page, although he wasn't charged with anything on that basis. Those warrants are concerning to me because at least some of them were concluded to be valid, given the very low bar needed to get such warrants.

Well...except he'd probably just do them, not just pretend to like President Trump did/does. I thought this article about that was interesting:
What President Joe Biden would do to stop Covid-19
Biden’s plan is detailed, but the real differences on coronavirus between him and Trump start at the more conceptual level.

“The big differences are the emphasis on science and experts, versus politics and politicians, and more coordination and leadership at the federal level,” Kates said.

Some of these items — contact tracing specifically — have been more or less ignored by the Trump administration, even though public health experts say it is necessary to safely relax social distancing. Contact tracers can identify new clusters and potentially prevent wider outbreaks. But as NPR reported, right now most states do not have enough people to perform that job.

Biden?
Maybe if someone reminds him of what he said that he was going to do and then explains to him what he is doing.

The debates will reveal it all.
Unless Joe calls in sick on that day?
Or forgets to show up?

It's kind of interesting how the more President Trump displays how much he's losing it his base seems bound and determined to project that on to Mr. Biden. That was shown when they got so excited that he finally managed to drink some water from a cup while holding it with only one hand. Now if only he could manage to get the pandemic under control...:sigh:

That's right Trump can drink water
when he wishes to
and run the Country much better that Biden
could even on his best days
which we haven't seen in many, many years.

Obviously not or he wouldn't be invading'occupying his own country, massive unemployment and an out of control pandemic killing around a thousand people a day. :sorry:

could even on his best days
which are actually ahead, when he becomes President. But to show there's no hard feelings I suspect President Biden will even visit President Trump when he's in prison. Which will be nice for President Trump, he can pretend he's just "inspecting" his cell. He seems to like doing that.
