  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Masks can help you stop the virus

I probably won't take it either but if they can force masks upon people the next step could be mandatory vaccines.
That's the fear... That's why people are concerned that it has something to do with the mandatory mark of the beast... or... at least a precursor to it.

The worst "infection" could be the governments themselves as the suffering and death from all these antisocial mandates could lead a lot of people to mental illnesses and crime out of hopelessness, especially because most of the media has nothing positive to say about it all.
We can have a conversation on this forum, we can find forums about all kinds of things that you are interested in. 200 years ago people lived their whole lives without going more than 100 miles away from their home. We made the transition to the jet age, to the railroad age, I don't see why we can't make the transition to the cyber age.

It is a numbers game. If we replace shopping malls with the internet you remove one way the virus would spread. If you eliminate movie theaters with home movies, you remove one way the virus will spread.
I can't see it.. I won't buy groceries like meat and vegetables, clothes, and many other things off of the net.. Just not happening.

Can you imagine a world without movie theaters, theaters where live shows are played out, live concerts, live sports, fairs, parades, rib feasts?? I mean that closes down human interaction and makes us gold fish in our bowls...

Never going to happen..

This virus.... not that big of a threat that these measures would be necessary.

According to the Bible it will be more related to buying and selling but ironically if NOT having a mask on prevents you from going into local stores the mask is a sort of parallel to the mark. If they require some sort of identification due to the virus to ensure you are "safe" it could lead down the path especially if the "safe" ID mark is accepted by most countries. But to be honest I don't think this or any virus will be the direct cause of the mark, I'm leaning more toward an insane increase in identity theft so bad the world gets together to find a solution to it, a form of ID that cannot be "stolen" remotely at all.

Further isolating to further slow the virus that won't be stopped by it but will invariably lead to us feeling like we are in prison than free people and what happens to prisoners is they look for an escape from "the system".
I had stopped going to the Malls long before this virus. I had also virtually stopped going to movie theaters. Those are two things we could do. I get it that some people will miss going to a basketball game or football game, but watching these events on TV has many positive aspects, so even though it isn't the same it doesn't mean we have to live in isolation.

Actually even though there were people (and still are) that don't go far from home at all, there were and always be those who travel. As for the cyber age, it is only an extension as far as shopping goes of mail order of which I was doing back in the early 90s before I had internet access I saved hundreds buying magazines and ordering things through the mail items that Best Buy and the like wanted $25 for I got for $6 plus shipping costs and I bought enough stuff that the shipping on each item was about 25 cents or less.

I don't think that the virus is the cause of the mark... I think that the virus..or "a" virus or situation in the future like we are in now...... will be the vehicle or excuse for the government to use scaremongering and peer pressure to impose a method of control that will lead to the mark.

I think that that kind of world.. would be drastically devastating to the world and human interaction...

We are not meant to be beings existing in a box with no outside connection.. That is the thinking of those that would have us give up or freedoms and liberties as well as the pursuit of happiness.... which is in the US constitution.

Once again, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Like I said if you can cut down the infection rate to below 1 you won't get pandemics. 0.99 is very dangerous, but 0.8 and we are good.

Well there are other things you can do. Copper and Silver doorknobs for example would be a big way to decrease the transmission of diseases.

I used to go to the malls mostly to shop for things I couldn't get anywhere else and in bad weather to walk around. I rarely go to movies alone, rather pick up the movie years later for cheaper than a movie ticket and watch it several times at my leisure. I do watch the tv a lot but mostly it is background noise used to keep me from worrying about things to much as keeping my mind busy releases stress. I find myself a lot watching Buzzr to learn a lot of useless things lol

I quit going to theatres too...they don't have intermission so I can use the restroom and get more popcorn...

I can have several at the house...

Except for dinner theatres with plays...
I'm still addicted to them. But they have an intermission.

Hamilton is a new one that came out on Disney channel... awesome history lesson in a musical.

I don't think it is economically possible to reduce the infection rate low enough and keep the economy running well enough to optimize things and keep suffering at a minimum. What irritates me is they had a lot of time to try and expand hospital space and get more health workers and I think the spikes showed them that they blew it, as they were not thinking about the backlog of regular patients vs the spike of covid patients without greatly increasing hospital capacity you can't do both at once and that is why all the mess.
We need smarter health people in charge of this thing so far too many are blowing it big time.

I still go if invited but on my own prefer to buy a DVD or Blu-ray and be able to pause for a bathroom break or to eat dinner or whatever and finish it later and watch it again later if I wasn't paying good enough attention the first time.

We go to movies a lot.. It's good to go to dinner with friends and then to a show... maybe a bite afterward too.

I think that this virus is way overstated. I don't think it's as devastating as they predicted...

Let's do this... In the states they had, how many new cases in one day? In Florida... 15,000... Now, let's see in the next month if the death rate is as scary as they are saying... If not... then it's a sham....

So far, death rates below 45 years of age is about zero..45 to 70 it's between 0.03% and 0.05%..... Is it worth all this panic? Those who are above the age of 85 with people who are at risk.. it can be 25%. Those are the ones to be protected.. and that's easy enough.

Read the article posted in a previous post... The more I read, the more I see and hear on the news.. the more hyperbole and confusion and contradiction in the reports, medical expert opinions etc... the more I believe that they have not got their stories straight...

covid really showed me how much easier it is to watch a new movie at home, I would be VERY happy to pay 20$'s to sit at home to watch black widow rather then in a theater, I mean some be nice in the theaters, but even 1 person it's cheaper without adding friends.

most movies I see in theaters tend to be bigger ones, like avengers and such where I don't want to risk 4-5 months of spoilers, or it's a big must see on my list.

Don't go with the figures, gravitate to the percentages and the numbers shrink from HUGE to very tiny There is a reason that tiny towns with a higher percentage of "action" aren't mentioned. They could have 2-3 times the statistical infections and deaths and because that adds up from 4 to 7 people died and 300 infected those numbers are not impressive to the media.

I agree. If you don't buy a drink and some snack or popcorn you may get out for under $10, but add those things in and you are more than buying the movie new after it comes out on disc then you get your own popcorn and drink and etc and instead of spending $10+ you spent a few dollars and watch it a second time and invite friends and they don't spend anything to enjoy it and after 4-5 people watch it that would cost $50-$80 or more for movie and food you can buy more movies a better tv and sound system and so on and pay for it in time with the savings.
