Great episode last night.

Taylor is a perfect example of how America's trend toward letting kids do as they please is going to come back to bite this country in the butt. When she's an adult, she's going to plow her way through life with the same sense of entitlement and lack of accountability that she does now as a child. Imagine having someone like her as one of your employees or co-workers!

However, it was painful to watch the entire town gang up on her like they did at the town meeting. Really poor sportsmanship. This matter should have been handled by the Town Council. Good on DK for standing up against the "ugliness."

I hope at some point the journal reveals a method of expelling bad seeds from the city, or perhaps incarcerating them in a stockade for a few hours. Then Taylor might learn a lesson.

Taylor..... ohhhh it's so hard for me not to despise that child, and it's only because she is a child that I am able to manage it. I think her parents must be mortified watching this show with her.

What must her teachers and friends think? This girl left home for this show as a popular beauty queen. I can only imagine what it must be like for her at school now, with kids shouting "Deal with it!" at her and telling her how spoiled and bratty she is. Maybe that, all by itself, will teach her the lesson she needs to learn.

DK was awesome. I was so glad he decided to stay last night and got the gold star. I've seen him on talk shows with some of the other kids talking about the experience of being on the show, and he just seems like such a good hearted, down to earth guy.

Yeah, I agree...I'm concerned that the "watching it at home" part could include words of "how could they treat our princess like that?"

Seen too many "reality" shows where even grown-ups just don't get it, they just don't see how they come across.

I did find it interesting that she was so sad when DK said he was leaving.

Now there's someone who would have been kicking himself if he had left. Just imagine that.

I bet when they have the "reunion" show at the end (if they do that), she'll be talking about how she's really not like that--that the producers told her to act spoiled.

My boyfriend and I watch this show together and the other day, I said, "Can you imagine how embarrassed her parents must be?" and he said, "She had to learn this behavior somewhere!"

When he and I were talking about possible punishments for her that might work, we thought a shunning would be best. It would be peaceful, but I think it would drive her absolutely NUTS if the whole town pretended like she wasn't even there. Let her eat dinner with everyone, but nobody speaks to her, nobody interacts with her except when absolutely necessary.

Something that affects her need for attention would probably be the best punishment for her.

Last episode was my favorite so far, and after the reelection episode, that was a tall order to accomplish.

Taylor's parents me thinks instilled the "deal with it" attitude and lavish her with waaaay too much attention. While other outside influences can be very strong, at that age, parents are the number one influential factor in children. I shutter to think what mommy and daddy are like.

And if they aren't like that, then they need to do what a lot of American parents need to do: WAKE UP! YOUR CHILD IS A BRAT AND YOU ARE DOING NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM!

I was impressed with both new council leaders. While Guylan struggled early, it was his direction that helped lead Red Team to win their upper class status and, more importantly, he was directly responsible for changing DK's mind. Excellent comeback from his trash collection/burial fiasco and impressive leadership abilities.

I was equally impressed with Zach, who let both Taylor Leila have it. He dogged them like a leader should: professionally but dropping it when it was clear they were being gits. The fact that he allows Green Team members help with the kitchen tells me that he's a true teamplayer in the widest possible sense. The fact that many Yellow girls follow his direction shows that he's won their support, which is crucial since that was his biggest hurdel.

On the other hand, Anjay is beginning to disappoint me. His leadership is faltering and he needs to get his act together especially since he has kids like Blaine and Greg on his team. They respect strong leaders, not weak ones. I hope that, if he doesn't improve, that one of the older Blue Team kids ascends and takes his place.

Again, I have to applaud the kids for making the right choice after the showdown. And they made the best choice when they selected DK to win the gold star.

I think still that Taylor is going to make an exit, either voluntarily or forcefully. I think we might want to watch Anjay too now that he's loosing his grip. Blue Team has dropped from being always in the upper tiers to the bottom and that will not help morale. Can anyone say coup?

I woulda picked the dune buggies.....hehe

PC, great to see you here.....you are too funny. ^_^ I would have loved to see if Taylor was eating any of that yummy looking food.

I just loved her line...."I'll hate you for the rest of your life!" ^_^

Don't know if any of you watch Beauty and the Geek, but last year, there was a "beauty" who had this same kind of attitude. She left the show NO differently...and saw nothing wrong with her "better than you" where many of the others on the show changed. And we've seen the same on Survivor and I'm sure other ones I don't watch.

At least Taylor is a child and has a chance to still change before she's totally grown-up.

Probably so.
Thirded. What I can't stand the most though is how her attitude is rubbing off on others. Fortunately Leila realized at the last minute what deep trouble she might be in, on national tv, and came around.

Zach is a great leader for yellow. He is also a precociously good speaker for his age - he's able to reply with equal amounts of wit and thoughtfulness to his fellow kids and even the host. I see him being in the public eye in the future, even if it is at his local school government, community, etc.

Totally agree on Zach, he is amazing.

I am willing to bet that Taylor's mother told her prior to going on the show, "Whatever they make you do, don't leave! This is your big chance to be discovered on television!" I can't see any other reason why this beauty queen princess who hates work and misses the comforts of home would be sticking around.

i felt sorry for Nathan last night when Greg was being so mean to him..i was so glad to see the heartfelt apology..and then Greg nominating Nathan for the gold star! Greg is a hard one to figure out..he sways back and forth between being a troublemaker to a nice guy..lol
I was surprised that the council took the treasure and bought stuff from the general store for EVERYONE to use..that was so smart! These kids amaze me every week...great decision making skills ..better than many adults! lol

I agree with you. I just...don't like Greg. I think he's strong and that makes him an asset to the city, but he's a bully. He's "turned over a new leaf" before, but then he acted ugly to Nathan. I was really glad he ended up with the gold star last night! He seems like a nice kid, but he just needs to let go a little bit. He seems obsessive about getting his work done.

I thought the reward choices they had last night were really good. It seemed like a no-brainer that they would choose #2.

And does anyone else find Mike (boy scout) disturbing. That kid is WAY high strung. He makes me tired. :)

Agreed, last night was a great program and it was nice to see less of Taylor and to see her in a mainly positive light when we did see her.

How about the selling that was going on? That was an interesting touch.

I was also glad Nathan got the gold star, although I think Pharoah (where DO parents get these names?) would have also been a good choice.

I'm so glad they again picked the better choice reward-wise. This show is rather interesting.

The whole point of this show originally was to see if kids by themselves could run a town better than adults could. I have to say that despite the expected fights/mishaps, etc that you really can't avoid these kids have been extremely impressive. Their insight of what a few more nickels would do greed-wise to some there was very interesting and their final choice was awesome.

Well, I finally got to see how they dealth with washing their underoos (a point I raised very early in this thread, lol). Seeing Nathan wash a pair of girl's underpants, and seeing Lauren comment on it, settled the question for me. It seems like the kids have the choice of sending whatever garments they want to be cleaned. Obviously they haven't sent much, since they opted for new clothes.

Which raises another point: if they aren't getting their underwear washed regularly, then that means they're wearing dirty underwear. While that's pretty gross in itself, doesn't that also put the girls at risk for urinary tract infections?

I read some scuttlebutt somewhere that the districts are going to be re-drawn soon. That could be interesting...
