.... in the previews for next week, there is a dust storm and he's running around going "It's a twister! It's a twister!" He reminded me forcibly of the Scarecrow/farmhand in Wizard of Oz. :D

He reminded ME of the gay air traffic controller in Airplane!.

Wow. Can I smack that little beauty queen? Please? I just cannot believe she said what she actually said during that meeting. And in that annoying accent of hers, too. Can someone tell me WHY they can't vote out council members?

Yay! I found a Kid Nation discussion.

I am enjoying the series so far. I'm really bad about forgetting to watch a TV series on a regular basis, but I've found out that you can watch the back episodes online (free and legally), so that's great!

Jared scares me a little bit, and I'm surprised the little beauty queen (Taylor) hasn't been smacked. I think she'll be voted off the council at their first opportunity.

I was so pleased to find out that they have a chance to change their "station" each week at the "showdown". I hope the yellow team gets bumped down to laborers this week.

I felt so bad for the green team being laborers for two weeks in a row when they all seem to have such good attitudes about working hard. I think they deserve to see a little extra cash.

No discussion yet about KN this week? Well it was an interesting episode. Of course everyone would whine about the curfew at first but it's a good idea overall for this large a group of kids.

And the abject laziness by yellow continues! Well, most of yellow - the one boy seems to help out, and maybe we don't see everything they do on camera, but serving hasbrowns for 'brunch' in the kids hands' ?!? Absolutely ridiculous. Obviously CBS has a timeline or set episode in which they want to do re-elections in otherwise it would have happened when Sophie wisely called for them at this town council. Sure, Taylor says she'll change, blah blah, but I find that very unlikely.

I am really impressed at most of the choices they're making though, especially the microwave over the pizza. It will definitely benefit them in the end.

I kind of wondered what good a microwave would do them though. Do they have refrigerators? It just seemed like the only thing it would be good for would be heating up the cocoa. I don't think they're keeping leftovers that they can pop in the microwave and warm up. And it'd be terribly time consuming to cook enough food for 40 people in a microwave.

It was weird to me that the council was divided about which prize to choose and one person got to be the mouthpiece. I figured they'd make them all agree on something before they chose.

They were given supplies right at the getgo.

Plus I'd say its a reasonably safe bet the town shops sell popcorn that you can pop in a microwave.

In addition, as one of the kids wisely said, you can reheat food far quicker.

Taylor needed to be slapped upside the head for her "deal with it" mantra. I felt bad that she was crying at the council meeting, but I really hope she has a serious attitude adjustment because of it. She needed to be called out for her behavior.

When I'm watchin' the show, I can't help but think of my own kids in that kind of situation. The producers really had to pick the kids carefully, cause i don't think my kids would be able to take Bonanza. If the cable goes out, they think they're dying! LOL

I really hope they both do. Sophia and Michael would make great replacements.

I'm pretty sure Sophia and Michael are both on the green team, so they wouldn't be able to replace Taylor or Mike.

What..... aren't they?? :D

I could not handle Bonanza either!

If I were on the council, there's a pretty obvious reason why I wouldn't have chosen the pizza (and maybe the kids thought of it, too, and CBS just didn't show it to us).

The reason is this: Those kids have been on meager rations, with little meat, for eight days. If they ate that greasy pizza, it would go right through them. Then they'd have 39 kids with diarrhea lining up for 8 outhouses. It would be a disaster.

Switching gears from the pizza issue: I think another thing the council should have done is call Greg in privately and tell him that they know he wants the gold star, and they know he's working hard for it, and his contributions are recognized. Then they should say that he is abusive and antagonistic, and for those reasons, he is not a candidate for the star this time, but IF he keeps up the good work AND makes an effort to get along with the other kids, they'd consider him for next time.

I think I would elect you as a council member.
