Well, I finally got to see how they dealth with washing their underoos (a point I raised very early in this thread, lol). Seeing Nathan wash a pair of girl's underpants, and seeing Lauren comment on it, settled the question for me. It seems like the kids have the choice of sending whatever garments they want to be cleaned. Obviously they haven't sent much, since they opted for new clothes.

Which raises another point: if they aren't getting their underwear washed regularly, then that means they're wearing dirty underwear. While that's pretty gross in itself, doesn't that also put the girls at risk for urinary tract infections?

I read some scuttlebutt somewhere that the districts are going to be re-drawn soon. That could be interesting...
They may be washing their own clothes some too. If I were them, I'd probably wash my own underwear, you know?

Ok so I finally just watched the episode from last week. First of all, Jared is so hilarious! When he was strutting around town with his new threads, I laughed so hard, and how awesome is his little souvenir shop idea?

I agree with the counsel not considering Divad in their vote. Anyone who brags about their work doesn't deserve the gold star. It's about humility and service.

The town counsel's decisions this week were great. It was an excellent choice to choose the free laundry and new cloths. Also, buying things for the whole town with the treasure money was an excellent idea. Also, selecting Nathan for the gold star was great. He is so sweet and works so incredibly hard. He definitely deserves it.

I think Divad's side shop is fine. I know that just because she is taking some of the food from the kitchen, she isn't taking it all. The kids who don't want to pay her for food can go get some themselves.

It would be cool to see more side shops open up like Divad's and Jared's.

Next weeks episode looks awesome. I can't wait for the talent show!

The showdown last week was disgusting! I have this thing about spit...I had to look away any time they did a closeup of the gum boards.

I thought it was interesting that the big kids (I can't keep their names straight!) threatened to throw the showdown in order to get a couple of the girls to do some work. It seemed to have worked, and he came off as less of a jerk than when he uses some of his more forceful bullying tactics.

I totally agree. That was the most disgusting challenge ever. Me and my spit issues would have bowed out long before the end if I'd been forced to participate.

Yeah, when Greg shows responsibility, he really seems like a good guy. I have to keep reminding myself (and my husband) that he's just a kid, and part of being a kid is messing up and learning. And he does seem to be learning at least.

This week looks great - from the previews, it looks like a team shake-up.

O.K. several of you brought up the "spit" issue and I agree....totally.

Did this cross anyone else's minds? In this day and age....no one touches body fluids from anyone without gloves when one is in a medical situation. If a sports player starts bleeding...everything stops....gloves come out....and all those correct precautions are taken. If they clean your teeth, they wear gloves....

Here they are, perfectly fine with them having each other's spit all over their hands...and a couple times, someone re-chewed some gum.....just hit me as odd and of course, gross, that it was allowed.

I just have to say, the parents of those kids must be so proud. They all seem to be handling things amazingly well. Its like you always hope your kids will make you proud when they're away from you, and these kids all seem to be doing it well.

I agree, Suzy.

That must be why the disclaimer they signed protected the network and producers if any of the kids got diseases.

(Actually, that's standard contract language, but I agree it seemed reckless and irresponsible.)

Yeah, the spit thing was incredibly gross, but I've no doubt that each and every kid there had to have a medical exam before being accepted onto the show (or at least they should have). I don't think anyone would have let that particular challenge happen otherwise. Thus, the biggest thing about it was that it was just plain disgusting, period.

I felt so bad for the kids this week not winning the actual beds :(
I did too.

I also felt bad for how mean they were being to each other. Nathan and Anjay especially took the brunt of it, but they were all sniping at each other and being ugly to one another. I know kids are that way, but I hate to see it.

I was a bit disappointed in Laurel this past episode. She'd always shown an incredible amount of maturity, but something about this last one, I don't know. Oh well. I'm anxious to see some new council members, even for the green team-someone else deserves a chance.

I was absolutely appalled at how hateful the kids are being to each other these last few episodes. Especially Olivia, mocking Anjay like that in front of everybody. What a terrible example she's setting for her younger sister, Mallory.

I hope that in the next few episodes the producers have come up with some ideas to get the kids on the same page again, and not sniping at each other.

I was very disappointed in Laurel. Disappointed not only at her "I've got 4 gold star winners in my district so I must be doing something right" attitude but also her attitude at the council meeting when she said, "The other council leaders should have stood up for their districts like I did." She definitely wasn't being a team player.

I haven't liked Mallory for a few episodes now--not since the episode about religion. She's incredibly rude and hateful. Especially to Anjay. Poor Anjay--he just can't win, can he? I really don't want to see Greg as a council leader for blue, but I don't think there's any way Anjay will win that election.

Can't wait to watch next week.
