  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love Spring.  Usually it's when new albums come out.  So, what are y'all currently listening to?  Me?  I just bought the Derailers new CD, "Genuine."  It's on right now.  And I'm listening to George Strait's new one, "Live from the Astrodome."  I'm fixin' to buy it on DVD, too.  And one last one I bought that I love, "Dressed in Black:  A Tribute to Johnny Cash."

Yup.  I love hillbilly music.  Wayne "the Train" Hancock, Br5-49, Hank Williams III, Dale Watson, the Derailers, and Junior Brown.  Makes me croon.  I also love traditional country, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, Dwight Yoakam, Gary Allan and Chris Ledoux (he's the "and Western" part of Country and Western). And then there's old school, Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Lefty, Merle, and of course, Hank Williams.  My wife hates all this stuff and she says I have way too many CDs.

And of course I really dig the blues.  Stevie Ray Vaughan did it for me.  And he turned me on to Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Albert King, Lightning Hopkins, and a whole slew of others.

So pop open a cold one and share your musical tastes.  There ain't nothing like going juke joint jumpin'.

You wouldn't like the music I listen to, jukes. I like 70's disco. As in the BeeGees and Barry White type stuff.

I don't listen to music anymore as much as I would like but I really like that one song by Santana with girl vocalist and Landslide by the Dixie Chix. Funny though, I never really liked it when Stevie Nicks did that one.

I'll listen to just about anything but country, rap, and bluegrass. :) Right now, I'm teaching my kids the words to all the songs on our Elvis CD collection. Ever seen a 3 yr old sing, "I'm in lub...UH...I'm aww shookt up." ? :D

Elvis is awesome.  I've been to Graceland--who wants to touch me?  Anyway, I can't believe if you like Elvis that you don't like country!

There's a band in NW Arkansas called Ultra Suede and all they play is 70s disco.  They are a huge draw.  ...she's a brick....house....

And I got made fun of for getting my funk on calling the Hogs......

Um, lately it's been "Bear in the Big Blue House", "Toddler Favorites", and a VeggieTales CD.

But, for adult music, I like a mixed bag of lots of things. Lately, I've been listening to John Michael Talbot, Baroque chamber music, and 80s rock (whatever the local station is playing).

Jukes,

Cake, Coldplay and Jeff Buckley are all rock. I did forget to mention that my newest purchase was Everclear's Slow Motion Daydream. Another good album by those guys.

If you had to look at any one of those artists I mentioned though, look at Jeff Buckley. His album Grace is awesome.

Right now I'm stuck on Radiohead, Static-X, System of a Down, and The Crystal Method. My favorite CD at the moment is The Crystal Method's Tweekend.

Never listened to Static-X or The Crystal Method. However, the video for Radiohead's Just is probably the best video ever made IMO. System of a Down also rocks!

You are missing MUCH. Static-X is the hardest(non-psychotic like Disturbed, lol) numetal that I have heard. And their latest album, Machine, doesn't even have a Parental Advisory!

And The Crystal Method... well they just rock. They're a techno band with house and a little trance sound. They also use a lot of "Nintendo" sounds, which I REALLY like. And Tweekend has bass like you wouldn't believe, esp. on the first song. But of course, Tweekend has a Parental Advisor. They use motherf***er in three of their songs, but if you can get past the drug themes, it's no big deal, LOL! Actually, I kinda like the profanity. :o It gives it substantial bada** appeal, hahaha.

However, the video for Radiohead's Just is probably the best video ever made IMO.

All I've seen in video is "Pyramid Song," one of my favorite Radiohead songs, btw.

System of a Down also rocks!

Do they? I LOVE their edgy campiness and political voice. :D
