faith life is like a mountain and a plateau. at times we feel completely satisfied and in god's presence, at times we grow in gods presence. but then there are times when faith flattens out and we feel like we need to be taken to "the next level", yet we go nowhere. i spoke to my pastor about this last night and he pointed out that this is how faith is, and it can be paralleled to jesus' life. there were times when jesus was very close to his disciples and times when he left them by themselves. when jesus fed the 5000 it was on a mountain top, everyone witnessed something awesome and felt god's presence. after that, though, they descended the mountain and sailed away and were immidiately attacked by satan. this can be paralleled to faith and how at times it is like climbing a great mountain while other times it is like descending. the bible is crazy like that.
