What kind of specialized skills did they get that would start out with higher pay?
Technical skills, healthcare specialties, etc.

You could get a lot more bang for your buck if you adopted singer payer models.

All the other advanced countries have single-payer systems and these all cost about half as much as the US for-profit system.

Some of the systems on average provide better or more comprehensive care and are therefore over half the price of the US system.

Comparing healthcare systems is a pretty good way to identify the value of the word 'universal' in healthcare, and pretty much the same is true of 'universal' in Universal Basic Income

The US system of individually rationing out all healthcare is very expensive, time-consuming in many cases, can produce worry, and is very hit and miss.

Just covering everyone saves a fortune and gives better results.

People don't like the comparison so I've put it as a thumbnail.

It is currently proposed as 1,000 dollars per month to every citizen or resident in the US irrespective of other income or circumstances.
If anyone wants to see the current situation of a large country with hundreds of millions of residents nevertheless unable to staff many essential jobs taken to a much more devastating level...

enacting the proposal that you are describing would absolutely accomplish that!

Considering that the german healthcare system is generally seen as relatively efficient (though certainly with room to improve), I am confused by its placement on this map.

I do not know the exact reasons, the only source I found is this: Germany: health system review 2020

Maybe it has something to do with "Public Health, ambulatory care, hospital care and long-term care are very separate and organized differently in terms of planning, financing, and governance. This fragmentation presents challenges for health care in terms of coordination and continuity of care, quality of services for patients and efficiency in allocating resources."

It still shares the lowest rungs with the likes of USA, Russia and Brazil. I find that hard to believe.

The grocery where I shop is understaffed and the cashier told me it's because no one wants to work. She was absolutely weary doing extra shifts. Then my favorite Chinese fast-food closed because of lack of employees. Not to mention the more serious ramification - what the state gives, the state can take away . For any reason, at any time. I choose work and the freedom of self-sufficiency it brings.

Its highly probable that some transformation of the economy will go together with the universal income.

For example automatic payment systems in shops (so no need for human cashiers). I do not know about the USA, but here almost every larger supermarket has it. You scan your goods by yourself and then pay the amount.

I think many similar workplaces will disappear and will be replaced by software or robots.

It's an interesting idea, however, there are more jobs than ever before, though maybe not in production. The current problem seems to be getting people to work, not lack of jobs.
Getting who to work?

Actually, the state has to follow the laws and ordinances it creates, so it can’t just take things away that it has committed to. Unlike private employers, which can fire you at any time.

And who is going to pay for that? Man that's what I don't understand. Why in the world do we think we deserve a chunk of other people's money. Or think it's okay to make other people give their money to others.

I get trying to help the poor who are genuinely poor cause they have a disability or something. But making people pay others so mom can stay home?

Why do I deserve other people's money?

I thought it looked odd too.
The graph I came across of life expectancies had Germany doing just very lightly worse than the rest of the bunch of single-payer medical system countries,

And it might be that the color change was made at exactly the point just before Germany, therefore lumping Germany in with countries with far worse healthcare systems, just as a rounding or 'digitization' error.

I don't have a problem with it either. Some people really need help. And the way our welfare system works is really bad. It's set up to keep people on it.
