From the "Blinding projection", files: Is This a Joke? WashPost Writer Claims Republicans Have a Problem Accepting Election Results

The pompous “Democracy Dies in Darkness” paper published an opinion piece Nov. 7 that was so opposed to reality, you had to wonder if it was a joke. The article entitled, “Can Republicans relearn how to accept political outcomes they don’t like?” wasn’t a joke, even though it would’ve fit in perfectly as a satire piece for The Babylon Bee.
...
Hillary Clinton and her media cronies have been calling her the real winner of the 2016 election for three years now. Not to mention delusional Democrats “Governor” Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum, who both lost their respective gubernatorial races in 2018

Really? I never hear this.

The closest thing I do hear is that Hil was preferred by the voters. But thats not the same thing at all.

Funny, we've all accepted the election results of 2016. Have since 2016. The only ones who have been clamoring about Hillary Clinton have been Trump's supporters. Everyone else moved on.

Republicans have serious problems accepting that they won.

What you've provided here is a couple of edited excerpts from an opinion piece about an opinion piece about an election result.

Why not address the issue directly and give us your opinion on the original article?

The Republicans never accepted President Obama as legitimate. Donald Trump led the charge on that one ---even with his bone spurs. They stonewalled and tried to block everything he did. As for Hillary Clinton, she won the popular vote but she lost the electoral college.

If that were true, it's Schiff, Pelosi, Schumer, et al who would have been the ones to move on. As we all can see, they haven't.

So when does stonewalling a President (and we can argue just how much they did that) but since when does that constitute not accepting that he was legitimate?

And your point is?

They didn't win the popular vote and the cloud of Russian meddling still hangs over their victory.

They still support Hillary for President?

Have you already forgotten Donald’s ceaseless attempts to claim President Obama wasn’t even American?

Nope. Simply not true. The head Dem of the last Presidential run Hillary Clinton said recently she considered Trump a illegitimate President.

Hillary Clinton calls Trump 'illegitimate president' - CNN Video
She's not the "head Dem" any more and her opinion, although perhaps of passing interest, is not normative for Democrats. The preponderance of opinion amongst Democrats is that Trump is a legitimately elected President--just a very bad one.

That is nonsense. Absolutely a fabrication. What's more, stonewalling legislation or opposing whatever the president might want IS NOT to declare him an illegitimate chief executive as has been done to President Trump.

Given the number of people who claimed he was wasn't an American citizen (and therefore was an illegitimate chief executive) - including the current President - I'd say the scores are tied there.

Overall though, I disagree with the opinion piece that the OP references. While Bevins does seem unwilling to accept legitimate election results, there are plenty of Republicans calling on him to concede, and the Kentucky Secretary of State (who I believe is a Republican) called the election for Beshears on election night.

On the flipside, I would add that Trump normalized this sort of behavior in 2016 when he baselessly questioned the popular vote results by claiming that millions of people had voted illegally. So perhaps it isn't so much a Republican/GOP thing as it is a Trump thing.
