I don't think it's possible to be sad when we get to Heaven. :D
lol's true... even if we are smelling like smoke from escaping through the flames... we will be happy to be there.

his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; HE HIMSELF WILL BE SAVED, but only as one escaping through the flames. 1 Corinthians 3 13-15

Put the reward aside for a moment, think of the truth people will not see, think of the the work as people who will never know the truth that will set them free.

Any body can say they faith that's easy. Proving we have faith is the hard part. We must pray that God help us, we must obey God, without doing that our faith is in vain, it will not save us.

Can eternal life be temporary?

Some argue that eternal life does not begin until heaven. That contradicts the words of Jesus which states that he who believeth on the Son of God HAS eternal life. John 3:36
Does the "eternal" in eternal life refer to duration or quality? If it refers to duration then no one has eternal life because the very definition of eternal is without beginning or end. If "eternal" life began for you at some point then it's not really eternal, is it? Never ending maybe -- but if it had a beginning it's not eternal.

Just a thought :)

Yes, Jesus Christ's death changed nothing, in regards to what you are trying to imply. Jesus did not die so that we can continue to sin, and go to heaven.

A man with faith, but no works to show for his faith made it to heaven, you say? NEVER!

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 John 2:3-5

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” Luke 10:25-28

Romans 4:4-8
4 Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. 5 However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man

God calls it eternal life... so I take it that it's eternal life... if it's not eternal then you are right... it's temporary life... one thing we do know is that eternal does not mean quality.... it means time...

Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write,

‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’ Revelation 3:1-6

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. I will posit to you that all Christians with saving faith have works. I will also posit to you that all Christians with saving faith exhibit a variety of works in both quantity and quality. I will also posit to you that these works are not the kind that one can boast about. In light of this, how would you interpret the verses that you posted?

When you say "saving faith", I believe you are already talking about this kind of faith:

See you how faith worked with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? James 2:22

Love + Faith = saving faith/complete faith/perfect faith etc.

Am I correct?

In light of this, how would you interpret the verses that you posted?

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:15-21

In light of your above statements, this would be my interpretation: those who walk in love have nothing to fear at judgement day.:)

It's your interpretation that can only be wrong because no one is saved by faith alone without works (walking in love).

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14-18

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. so interprete this scripture that say's this man went to heaven with no works.... how can that be?

You can lead a horse in the dessert to water, but you cannot make them drink

By its very nature it should be thirsty. Urging it to drink would be superfluous.

God urging us to do something that

a) has no point regarding our salvation
and
b) should be something we do anyway

is what several people here believe

What about Acts 15?

u keep quoting james saying not justified by faith alone, yet in acts 15, he did not want the highest of all laws, mosaic laws, which would cover all works of law, added to the salvation of the gentiles. why?

Peter said, faith and grace too in acts 15, confirming it was the same goeple as paul's.

please advise.:)

surely if no mosaic laws were to be added, then that in their minds would eliminate any subordinate laws of any kind.
