  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm perplexed -- & aggrivated

I know we're conservatives here and I'm preaching
to the choir...
but I cannot believe my eyes when I read posts by people
with Christian icons supporting pornography as moral!

http://christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=49203705&postcount=331

http://christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=49203294&postcount=326

http://christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=49203676&postcount=330

I find this deeply disturbing

No surprise there. The people who think sin is only something that hurts another person don't understand what sin actually is and they don't care that sin actually hurts God. :doh:They judge their morality against other people and not against what God has revealed. But I can't believe that "The Ethics of Nude Bathing" is actually a thread here. Perhaps a better title for that thread is "The Ethics of Nude Public Bathing" as that seems to be what is being discussed there. I'm nekkid every time I take a bath. Never thought of it as a sin before, but I'd have to ponder that possibility according to the title of that thread. ^_^

"...a legitimate form of expressing the beauty of the human form..."

Was this actually given as a definition of porn? I am reading that right, or I am taking it out of context in some way? Pornography by it's very definition is without artistic merit and for the purpose of inciting lust. That's it. Going to the etymology of the word it's meaning is quite clear.

good post:thumbsup:
Yep, they were justifying it becuz there's some type of "beauty" involved - but more that if people enjoy it, what's the problem??

I guess we could say that in any form of depravity if a human body is involved is "beautiful" if that's their definition. I don't see beauty in degradation tho.

Worse, they can't tell what harm is? How about the parents or siblings of people in porn who are tormented over their child's decision to degrade themselves in front of strangers?
Or the kids who grow up to porn people - the shame & embarrassement or initiation into depravity as "good"..... the lists go on.

I also know a close friend of mine who's marriage was ruined by her husband's addiction to porn.
It started w/ watching porn - then it got more kinky... then he started making physical demands on her to act like the women in the movies...
then he went to phone sex - internet sex - then full blown paying for prostitutes - now they're divorced & she's raising 4 kids.

They want to say it isn't harmful. How do they even KNOW how many are hurt thru it?

Well having been to a topless beach in Nice, France, I can say that it's not a very stimulating experience. Old women with no tops and fat old European men in Speedos didn't arouse any lust in me. ^_^

Oh, man. My fiance says he wandered onto a part of the beach near our new place a few weeks back and there were nudists on it. He said none looked like they could have been models and he got out of there as fast as he could. :D

That's interesting, that person saying that. It may just be a moment of weakness, I think I've seen that person denouncing it before. But usually we all have our moments where we defend our "pet" sin. But that is no excuse of course. Pornography edifies nobody.

The people with the nice bodies know they can charge money to have people look at them, so there's no point in going to a nude beach. Plus with the men, the steroids may have had an adverse effect on the little bishop by making him even smaller. ^_^

But even when I know my pet sin is a weakness I can't see supporting it that it isn't sin at all.

That tends to be a major point of difference between a Christian and one who is not (or not yet) saved.
1 John 1:9-10 (NASB)
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
