Ironically enough, the definition of true real punk died before joe strummer. long before.

I think real punk was dying at the dawn of the 1980's, but, I was still in elementary school then, so I didn't exactly know what punks were trying to say. Go figure...

Anyway, now that we have a generation coming of age that thinks- in all sincerity- that "punk" is represented through the music of such bands as Relient K, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and Newfound Glory, I submit that we can forget that punk ever existed...

Johnny Cash is turning over in his grave as I type this...

I hate Relient K, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and Newfound Glory. Oh yeah, I also hate Nickelback and Staind...

Emo, can't stand it. All they do is whine and moan through out the entire cd. Yet it's doing so well amongst guys. Just don't get it.

Let's thank the O.C. :p Really, there's a handful of good emo bands out there but the good ones are soo hard to find.

Ahh, I forgot Nickelback and Three Doors Down; 3/4 of their songs sound exactly the same! Also, I feel disgusted whenever I hear a Bon Jovi -song -the guy should have stopped making music ages ago...

Then there's Madonna... She's very much overrated.

If you had said this a month ago, I would have agreed. However, Madonna's new album is a damn good dance record and "Hung Up" is one of the better singles I've heard lately.

She may not have a good voice, but you have to appreciate a good pop song when you hear it. "Toxic" is a decent song -- more for production than vocals, but the point stands.

(eminem),
I like eminem. He can put words together better than most people.

Phil...givin' props where props are due. Yes, props.

Honestly, I dont think so, but I respect your oppinion...however, I seriously doubt that she wrote it herself. also, I strongly dislike her image.

Hmm...I agree, but I think I just have a hard time sepperating the artist from the music. I think my beef is mainly with his image. Also, I am generally not a rap fan. not this type of rap anyway.

Phil...givin' props where props are due. Yes, props.

Is props due in a thread labbelled "I Hate...."...that is like asking when is it Phil time...ITS ALWAYS PHIL TIME :)

GO give them props (Right reserved to disagree you hipster ;))

 Okay, the later stuff is boooring but the older stuff rocks. 'Don't Speak' is a pretty terrible song (at least when you hear it the 347678687634:th time on the radio) but otherwise I like that album -it's probably the oldest cd I still listen to. I've heard some of the stuff they made before that and it's neat :)

I used to think Gwen Stefani was soo cool until the band started making crappy music (Hey Baby, hey!) and she eventually made her own crappy solo debut. She seems a little too desperate for attention, which annoys me -that's why I don't listen to Björk either (*cough* Swan costume *cough*) :D If the artist doesn't let the music speak for her/himself instead of showing off it makes me think the music must really suck.

I dont necessesarily think that punk died in the late 70s but I will say that unless you were in a punk band by 78 youre not punk.

Hilary Duff thinks her stuff don't stink, Kanye West is the better rapper (he got more sense, I think) Avril Lavigne's bark is worse than her bite and...that's all :p

Oh yeah and I hate most Contemporary R&B songs (today's song) I hate R. Kelly. I have been waiting forever for this pervert to have a damn trial! It is taking FAR too long!
All he sings about is sexual stuff and in this lame opera, he has these characters in these doggone situations...it's really a joke :p....and...there is a word in those lyrics, at the end that SHOULD not be heard on the radio at all. *Some stations the whole 6-part song! :| He is making the race look bad. He is not helping! X|

A Parody of R. Kelly's Song "Ignition"

*Because I called him R. Smelly ^_^ :p :D

...Gimme a whoo-whoo
Lemme hear a splash-splash
Gotta get me some soap
I can find some I hope
I'm really funky you know

I smell like I dun' went fishin'
Smell is coming out the kitchen
This is really bad-I think I need to make a decision

Gotta get the loofah stick
Gonna get the thing quick
It's the funky weekend
Baby, I'm gonna lather it slick!

I hate...

everything since 1998- contemperay music, in addition to being horribly whiny and/or pretensious, also is devoid of a tune. Seriously, try to imagine say, a rob thomas song without the vocals. Rob is singing to a tune, but his band sure aint playing it.

Drums- Tinitus is not fun, and thumping noises do not add much to song.

many female singers- just because you're a woman doesn't mean you HAVE to sing as high, airy, and/or schreechy as possible.

Hillsong type stuff- lame and fluffy. Lyrics are as shallow as a hill. Also is the reason I hate drums.

Christian rock- very cheesy.

Victorian hymns- not only are they extemely dreary and flowery, the backlash against them lead directly to modern Christian music.

Rap/hip-hop- lame, and aren't really music. Its talking fast to someone else's song(s).

MTV- around 1995 they nose dived. they almost became BET 2, canceled MTV's Oddities, cancelled Beavis and Butt-head in 1997, and by the early 00's they played almost no music videos.

VH-1- kept the torch MTV should have been carrying for a few years, then devolved into the "Behind the music" and other specials channel. Now, they are the "I love the --'s" channel.
