Via Ron Filipkowski:
Charlie Kirk says there was a poor Republican turnout in AZ because their voters think elections are rigged: “400,000 people that voted for Trump in 2020 did not show up or vote for the midterm election. I believe it’s because a lot of people do not trust the system.”
I hope this is true, because this own-goal is so hilarious. And the competing hypothesis that they all died of COVID is not quite as funny.
Comparing a mid term election (2022) with a Presidential year election (2020) is non-sensical. Of course there were less Republicans voting...as well as less Democrats and Indepents voting.
During the Maricopa County Supervisors's meeting this past Monday, one of the elections Directors made the following points while reviewing participation by party in 2022 - vs 2018 (Maricopa County only):
Republican: 75.4% vs 74.2%
Democrat: 68.5% vs 69.9%
Independents: 49.3% vs 50%
....in summary, a greater percentage of Republican registered voters participated in 2022 vs 2018. Democrat and Independent participation actually decreased.
