I got back such an exceptional comment on all this that I asked permission to copy and paste his reply:
....
"Ice melts. And when it was deposited by the last ice age into areas where it was never meant to be, eventually those glaciers are going to melt and recede - emptying that water back into the oceans.
If there is only "X" amount of water withing the entire system (meaning no more or less water is produced on the earth, its recycled) - then ice turning back into a liquid form and entering the oceans --- who's to say that water wasn't supposed to be their in the first place?
IF THAT IS TRUE - then the climate patterns we're seeing change are in fact only reverting back to what is "normal" for a fully charged system with the water back in it s orginal positions.
Climate change is real, but I'll challenge that the real problem is - humans living on this earth now have become accustomed to the "modified" climate created by ice packs holding that water. Now that its being released through natural melting - the additional non salinated water in the oceans is causing an increase in water temperature, which in turn is causing more energy to enter the jetstream... pushing weather patterns into non typical areas.
So explain how a carbon tax is going to stop this? What people NEED to do is understand that these changes are happening as a result of natural melting of ice and that coastal properties are at risk of flooding because that water needs to go somewhere and ocean front views are being reclaimed by nature itself." "Sure, feel free to forward my comment. Sadly, it will fall on deaf ears because it doesn't fit in with the agenda set by globalists who see this issue as a money generating scheme.
For the record, I am a conservative who does support action to fight climate change - but in the context of cleaning the air we breath so that we all can live in a healthier space. From my words above, you can see I am not an alarmist, and become quite frustrated when both sides of the political spectrum try and bend the information to suite their political gains.
We need our scientists to tell us the truth and not that which governments are funding them to say." (Peter Walsworth)
