In 2020, Page sued the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI and former FBI Director James Comey for $75 million for the unlawful surveillance. The lawsuit stated that the surveillance "violated federal statutes enacted to prevent unlawful spying on United States persons, as well as the Constitution".

Well that was timely.

CARTER PAGE, Plaintiff,
v.
JAMES B. COMEY et al., Defendants.

CONCLUSION

For the foregoing reasons, the Court grants the individual defendants’ motions to dismiss and the government’s motion to dismiss. A separate order consistent with this decision accompanies this memorandum opinion.

Yeah, I know all about the Carter Page surveillance incident.
The FBI were too eager to surveil this guy, they did some errors in the application for a warrant, they got the warrant and the surveillance didn't turn up anything useful. But this was just a very small part of the Russian collusion investigation. It did not start the investigation and was immaterial to the overall investigation.
It was a big nothing burger Justice Department releases Mueller-era memo on Trump prosecution

So he didn't win a lawsuit. Does that make what they did to him right?

Robert Mueller stated that he wasn't going to make a determination on criminality by Donald Trump because he was a sitting president.
Bill Bar however decided to make a determination that D Trump didn't obstruct justice.
Recently a memo has been released and made public.
Justice Department memo in 2019 attempted to rationalize lack of charges in Trump Russia investigation
The memo by two senior Justice Department officials, which the Trump and Biden administrations both fought to shield from public view, states that Trump’s attempts to influence the investigation — including urging those in his circle not to “flip” on him, firing the head of the FBI and attempting to fire special counsel Robert S. Mueller III — did not constitute obstruction of justice because Trump thought the investigation was politically motivated.

the appeals court found that Barr never seriously considered charging Trump with obstructing the investigation, stating in its ruling that the memo Barr requested was an “academic exercise” and a “thought experiment.”

But, beside all the D Trump focus that some Republican supporters and some Right wing media have, the Russia collusion investigation indicted lots of people, and uncovered lots of collaboration between members of the Trump campaign and the Russians. It never focused on D Trump, it was never out to get D Trump. It is bizzare that some people are claiming the investigation was a failure because it didn't get D Trump (that was never its purpose)

It was a very successful investigation and was never directly focused on D Trump himself. He had been given a special (above the law) exemption.

For every left wing article you pull up I can find a right wing article and argue the point. Donald Trump is not above the law now. Let's hope they actually have something on him. I don't want him on the ballot.

It's not about left wing articles vs right wing articles. It's about normal people trying to understand where things are at.

It seems D Trump is still "above the law", any legal action against him is currently being accused of the FBI, DOJ ect being in the current administrations back pocket, doing their bidding against a political opponent. So when the FBI and DOJ act they are under much more scrutiny than they would be if they were acting against a non Political person. D Trump especially has a high degree of "persecution" and "political interference" by his many supporters.

Donald Trump's supporters are in control of the justice system?

Did I say that?
You said he was still above the law then talked about his supporters. The DOJ and the FBI should be worried about the law and not what people think.

Should doesn't match with reality

Because people are worried about the potential for a president to use the DOJ to attack their political enemies then much care is needed when a political figure is under a DOJ investigation.

Then you would think they would have taken more care to avoid the appearance of such.

It seems to me that lots of care has been undertaken.

For months they have been asking Trump to provide the documents. If he had provided them straight away, then perhaps the media would never have found out about all this.

Aside from all the indictments and asset confiscations, you mean?
I'm not rehashing all this. I hope they have something on Trump this time. It would be best for everyone if he is not on the ballot.

If they wanted to avoid the appearance that the DOJ and the FBI had been politicized they could have issued a subpoena and continued talks. Even if this is 100% above board and about enforcing the law it has all the appearance of a political hit job.

Are we discussing your accusation against the FBI, or something else?

If you really want to know, just look at your post that I quoted.
