The charges that were brought and part of the exploded plea deal were for 2018-2019.

As I understand it, the expired charges relate to 2014-2015.

Since the plea deal fell apart, he has not been indicted on those tax charges. I believe the statutory window is 5 years, so there is still time to bring them.

Correct and Kushner was no longer in a political position when he received the payment.

Only on those from 2014 and 2015.
Remember the "sweetheart deal" he was going to be getting until about a month ago? That deal was for the gun charges and on taxes for 2017 and 2018.

More than five years later, in June 2023, Weiss announced a deal in which Biden agreed to avoid jail time by pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges for failure to pay federal taxes in 2017 and 2018, and a probation arrangement for lying about his use of drugs on an application to purchase a gun.

Is Hunter Biden actually getting a ‘sweetheart deal’?

Hunter Biden is certainly not a paragon of virtue. But the accusations by Republicans about him and Weiss’s handling of the investigation are unsullied by facts.

He didn't take/get that deal. Now the gun and taxes are separated. He's paid those taxes now and the fines but he hasn't been indicted (?) for the crime of not turning in a tax return and paying taxes for 2017 and 2018.

As it is, any money that passes through Hunter's hands might have been used to buy drugs, anti-aircraft missiles, biological weapons, a prizefighter dive, a fake ID, smuggled Precolumbian antiquities or contraband elephant ivory.

Without evidence of a crime, money is just money. Everybody's got some.
