Oh no, the ocean is heating up by half a degree. It's the end of the world.
Why do you speak, sarcastically of the e d of the
world ?
Only your version of the end of the world will do?

Nobody (else) says climate change is the end of the world anyway

Just that theres a harmful trend of unknown proportions.
The degrading of environments is real though and
people have done enormous damage to the earth.
in countless ways.
We are all impoverished by it.

For those of a biblical bent, the cedars of lebanon are gone. The rich pastures and farmland of babylon
are gone. See "operation DESERT storm".

The christian belief that all is corrupt and sinful,
that it will soon all wash away and be made perfect
is far from helpful.

Even if it's true.

Okay with you if the Bible gives us hope for the future, despite what's going on in the present?

I agnostic of an afterlife.

Nor really. Paul believed in Sola Scriptura for salvation while Jesus preached both faith and works are necessary. Even Christians have problems agreeing what is necessary for salvation.
Paul believed in Sola Scriptura to give us everything necessary for guidance for salvation, but also basically wrote enough for the theologians to summarise the other sola's as well. By Christ Alone, Grace Alone, by Faith Alone, by Scripture Alone. And part of our faith is meant to be an outworking of our relationship with God as our LORD as well as our saviour. It's not just some middle-class spiritual add-on that makes us feel good. "Jesus died for me" as my own personal get out of jail for free card - that then let's you live however you want!

Paul does NOT teach that - Romans makes that clear.
James makes that clear.

But that's how some here want to nerf their Christian obligations when it comes to climate change! It's too big and threatening for them to think rationally about - so they resort to Tea-Party, Trumpist platitudes. The funding from fossil fuels finds it's way into nursing homes and churches. It's truly insideous and in everything. The alt-troof alt-right have their opinions kindly sponsored by the Koch brothers. And they don't even know it!

Okay with you if the Bible gives us hope which makes us compassionate and hard working for the "prosperity of the city" here and now as well? That we act out this hope in faith, hope, and love - Love for God as well as love for neighbour.

Christians should be concerned that the poor and vulnerable and elderly and refugees are already suffering - and this will get so much worse in a warming world. Indeed, anyone that has looked into the theology of God’s love of his physical world would know we had to fix climate change even if no people were being hurt - because it will eventually destroy entire ecosystems. BUT add the effect on people and our ethical responsibility is overwhelming.

James 1: “22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. …. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

NOT some alt-troof far-right version of the ‘gospel’ that says… “live the lifestyle you’re accustomed to and vote in a way that maximises your own pleasure, because those poverty stricken wretches in other countries probably deserve it for being lazy anyway!”

Yes it is big, but, Jesus told us our Christian obligation, "Love thy neighbor as yourself even if it means sacrifice.

Climate change is overwhelming but what you are able to do not overwhelming, namely, cut back on energy use. There are multiple little things that can be done w/o any major change. Here are a few suggestions, there are many others and no one is asking you to do more than you are able.
  • Save energy at home. ...
  • Change your home's source of energy. ...
  • Walk, bike or take public transport. ...
  • Switch to an electric vehicle. ...
  • Consider your travel. ...
  • Reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. ...
  • Eat more vegetables. ...
  • Throw away less food.
The list is not complete, and obviously, not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something. Even if everyone did their share it is too late to prevent the challenges that climate changes will bring but if everyone did something it will help to not make less bad.

I agree we should do our bit, but I do not agree that the party has to be over. I'm in the Ecomodernist "We need to decouple ASAP!" camp. The party is over for big oil and old King Coal (or is that King Koch?). But not for modern civilisation. Indeed, as we clean up energy and transport we're going to breathe easier and have less health and energy bills, more energy security, and deal with a few petro-tyrants along the way.

Knock yourself out.

If God has called you to action to help save the planet, go for it.

But don't belittle those who "stay by the stuff."

1 Samuel 25:13 And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.

1 Samuel 30:24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.

If a mammoth could talk he would say the party is back on again. It finally got free from the glacier it was frozen in that was not there when it lived, and finally made it back to the sunshine.

I'm not - I'm one who stays by the stuff.
The gospel expressed in love to the orphans and widows IS the stuff!
Basically you're trying to create a false dichotomy - that there's gospel work OR caring about climate change.
That's a false dichotomy. The science is real. The moral obligation obvious.
You shouldn't be sneering at the science all the time.
You should be doing the little you can and voting accordingly.
You should see that Christians care about both the cities. We can and should work towards the prosperity of the city we live in now - our earthly citizenship - as we long for the city of heaven.

By ignoring one you're not properly expressing the other.
To be blunt, you are failing in your witness.
Your writing in this forum just comes across as trite and uncaring - at least to me.

Something about the carbon cycle in here - but I'm not sure what you're actually saying here or how it relates to the theme?

Mammoths evolved to live in cold weather. That's why the last surviving population was in within the Arctic Circle.

I wish I could share you optimism but we (the world) is doing too little too late. That does not mean it is senseless for each of us to reduce our carbon footprint to reduce weather and climate disasters.

Here is a website that deals with the challenges that we face.

Ya ... like when Kirk went back in time?
That one was a little flaky. Assignment Earth is a better example. The Enterprise goes back to the 60s, and Kirk and Spock interfere with Gary Seven's mission in exactly the right way for the future to unfold the way it's supposed to, even though they had no idea what they were supposed to be doing.
