In certain cirumstances, yes...in other circumstances it only shows the true character of someone...
If your child is drowning in a forzen lake and you tuen your back on him....is he being a demanding little kid?We do not give God "chances" who are we to doubt the creator...That truly proves the point in Thekla's post to want our Creator as a demanding little kid....
It is the point of the thread that god wasn't there when the OP needed him the most...not hovering over he, cramming himself down her throat, but turning a cold shoulder to her heartfelt and serious cries for help.
It's about god not doing waht he promised he would do....it's about him not living up to his promises and leaving someone out in the cold...
It's about a person's picture of god being shattered...her faith being shattered...
I'm not blaming god because there's no one to blame.I think you will agree that we learn from most hard lessons in our lives. Sometimes these lessons do leave bruises but they eventually fade away. It is up to us to use these hard lessons to better our lives. Some do but others just have to blame someone.![]()
I'm not blaming god because there's no one to blame.
If anything I blame myself for beliving in this for as long as I did...it's my own fault I guess.
Lessons are one thing, but if there is a god, his "lesson" was the cause of me going to hell one day...lovely guys, hu?
I say that this as a hypothetical, of course, because there is no god.
If your chils is drowning in a forzen lake and you tuen your back on him....is he being a demanding little kid?
That's what you are imlpying.
Yeah, it's the standard line...but it's all talk to keep people from looking at things for themselves and realising what's actually going on and leaving.God does not promise a life without tribulation... Christ says pick up your cross and carry it ... Faith is where we carry on despite the tribulations. Faith is not a constant thing...
This is too funny....we're counted as mature when we can take whatever god throws at us...hmm....another prime example of a "loving father"Spirtual maturity comes with how many tribulations we endure and how much we "stick it out"...
Tinker, I am just trying to give him hope. My point is not how old he is but that I came to Christ when I was older. Age is irrelevant to when God changes ones heart.
ETA: You are not lost yet either.![]()
And God answered Job:" Are you greater than me that you know ....."...
Are you greater than God to know His wisdom behind any act?? NOPE...I am implying we cannot start fathoming the wisdom of God and why He does the things He does.. But as His children we have to be obedient to His will... and His disciplinary actions for us.
Thank you for your kind words.
However, I would respond that I am not lost now.

A parent who does everything for their child is not the same as a parent who "shoves himself down her throat"; these are both examples of dysfunctional parenting, but they are not the same.It is the point of the thread that god wasn't there when the OP needed him the most...not hovering over he, cramming himself down her throat, but turning a cold shoulder to her heartfelt and serious cries for help.
From the perspective of a child, this is precisely what it seems the parent is doing; when that child has children of their own, and desires their health and maturity - the now grown child retrospectively understands the value of their own parents actions. It's about god not doing waht he promised he would do....it's about him not living up to his promises and leaving someone out in the cold...
Which is part of growing up.It's about a person's picture of god being shattered...her faith being shattered...

You're quoting from the bible to try to reason with an atheist?
I'm greater than god because I actually exist.
