A parent who does everything for their child is not the same as a parent who "shoves himself down her throat"; these are both examples of dysfunctional parenting, but they are not the same.

Children often think the parent is "turning a cold shoulder" when in fact, the parent is encouraging the child to grow and mature.

From the perspective of a child, this is precisely what it seems the parent is doing; when that child has children of their own, and desires their health and maturity - the now grown child retrospectively understands the value of their own parents actions.

Which is part of growing up.
Then, one has the opportunity to see not the "picture one has created of God", but God. Like the child, become parent, understands the value of the parent's actions.

Think bigger picture....it's about life and death and the parent not coming to the rescue of the child...that's the scenrio we have here.

Honestly, the NCR section seems to be filled with an occasional thread about a different religion, and then a ton of threads where one person attacks and goads Muslims into debate in a disrespectful manor.

Not really. No one that still breaths in this life has been forgotten by God. Your expectation is that either he answers you in your terms or else. I do not presume to know the mind of an infinite being and neither should you.

As Christians we consider the bible to be the word of God and will use it when speaking in this site. That is our prerogative and right. It is up to you to read it or not. Sorry but that is the way it is in a Christian site.

I disagree, but only because if the purpose is not adhered to, it is no longer the purpose. I enjoy respectful conversation (and love debate) but it seems that is not what we actually get here in a lot of ways.

I know what I needed to be reassured that his promises are true and that he is actually there....and I know that I didn't get anything...I didn't get what I expected, I didn't get what I didn't expect...I got nothing...

I prayed, I begged, I pleaded.

I did not put any limitations on god or request anything specific.

I asked him to restore my faith. I told him that I was lost. I told him that my faith was slipping and that I was calling to him...I asked him to give me the gift of faith...to extent to me the gift of faith promised by him in his word...I asked him to come to my rescuse because I was lost and confused about him...I asked for his reasurance...

No special requests on how, I just pleaded with him to see his child that had gotten turned around in the dark woods of the world...I needed him to reassure me...to give me even the smallest amount of faith so that I can know that he is there and that I can follow him once more....

And now I'm atheist. There's nothig there.

You are greater because you are greater....hmmm and that is proof...and that makes sense to you. Man being his own measure of things, and of God... God is not human and you cannot fathom Him so that would mean He does not exist. But this is fallacy since if you can explain God and understood God in his totality He would not be God but mere a fellow human.... That is why you prefer to reduce Him to that so you appear greater..

All I got from all my begging was silence. there was no change, no "feeling" no spuernatural intervention, not even the littelest sign that something was out there....darkness and silence.

WIth all due respect SC I was not aware that this thread was about you and the need to dialogue and with you about anything at all. This is about faith or no faith and what Criada is going through. I would love to have this blanket of nothingless lift off ofher as she once was full of belief and the love of Jesus Christ in her life and ministry of love in this place. It is as more about our understanding where she is at as our trying to convince her of anything. We can I think share respectfully ideas or experices we have had that we think might help and as she once believed the Bible this could be included. Hopefully in whatever is said it is an encouragement to her I don't think debate and argument could be. gg
