“Between 2020 and 2021, nearly 79,000 people between 18 and 45 years old — 37,208 in 2020 and 41,587 in 2021 — died of fentanyl overdoses, the data analysis from opioid awareness organization Families Against Fentanyl shows.”

...

On the other hand, more than 53,000 people between the ages of 18 and 49 succumbed to COVID-19 between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 15, 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – and the CDC’s age range for COVID deaths is broader by four years.

...

As Newsbusters’ Curtis Houck explained, “covering this tragedy would require the liberal media to at least tread toward promoting border security and standing up to communist China.” He continued: “As opposed to the silence from ABC, CBS, and NBC, the Fox News Channel (FNC) has covered it over a dozen times.”

Yes, Fentanyl and other opioids are destroying so many young lives and have taken a back seat to Covid despite being just as bad if not worse. I even know of a young woman down here in Australia which died of a Fentanyl overdose. I hope the US government takes note of this and implements measures to deal with this massive problem.

Drug Overdoses Killed A Record Number Of Americans In 2020, Jumping By Nearly 30%
"Drug overdoses accounted for roughly one-quarter as many deaths as COVID-19 did in 2020, using the CDC's number of 375,000 pandemic deaths last year."

I really don't mean to discount the record number of drug overdoses in the last few years. Fentanyl is a dastardly killer.
However, it should be noted that links such as those in the OP give a vastly skewed perspective on how many are dying and of what. Yes, many are overdosing, more than in the past. No, total overdoses are not more prevalent than total covid deaths, by several degrees.

Who is more dangerous, the drug cartels or
the United States pharmaceutical industry?

Drug companies spends hundreds of millions on lobbying.
This influences lawmakers to weaken or to kill laws that will
