Statistics. Fewer guns means fewer deaths. Simple logic too. We have to try many solutions to find ones that work. Not trying is unacceptable to me. Period.

Before the assault weapon ban began in 1994 the average number of deaths in America from mass shootings was 7.2 deaths per year. During the ten year assault rifle ban the number dropped to 5 deaths a year from mass shootings. The last year in this particular study 2017, long after the assault weapon ban was repealed, the deaths from mass shootings every year averaged 25. It's not rocket science my friend. It is about finding the will to prioritize American lives over unnecessary privileges. Nobody needs an assault rifle to protect themselves or for hunting. Unless their game is human. If those poor animals are so dangerous stay away from their territory.
The most common firearms used in mass shootings and in all shootings are handguns. Go ahead and do what you want with so called assault weapons. It will make little difference other than making you feel good.

Fewer guns does not mean fewer deaths. It can, theoretically, mean fewer gun deaths. Knives seen to work for people in the UK, though. People gonna kill, and will use whatever is handy. And the ones that really want a gun for nefarious purposes will get one.

I just posted an article with evidence to the contrary. We can also work on the easy accessibility of handguns too. The only way to fail is to not try to minimize unnecessary gun deaths. Your defeatist attitude never accomplished anything. That is one thing that will necessarily need to change to save some innocent American lives. Some people never find success in rehab facilities due to the same pessimism. They cannot stay sober without the will to change. We will not decrease the risk of unnecessary gun violence if we can't even find the will to try. It's why I can claim people value their privileges of gun ownership over the lives of fellow Americans. Because by our non actions the statement is rendered true.

A lot of leftist feminists have handguns in their purses. That's why they never try to ban them. They're off limits.

There are too many in circulation to ever be confiscated. If they are ever outlawed only outlaws will have guns. They will still be widely available for anyone willing to break the law.

I have to admit I don't like Trump but even I don't want him dead. He's a criminal who needs to be in jail and serve his time. When my wife told me somebody took a pop shot at him I was shocked and immediately thought he was dead. I'm glad he is alive and it's such a failure on the secret services part for not protecting the former president. At least he is okay.

Jameson Myers, a former member of the Bethel Park High School varsity rifle team who graduated alongside Crooks in 2022, told CBS that he did not make the team.

"He did not even make the junior varsity team after trying out," Mr Myers added. "He never returned to try-outs for the remainder of high school."

Hogwash - the military trains soldiers from 18 how to accurately fire a weapon. At 18 to 20 their eyesight is better than at any other time in life.
You seem to completely have misread my post.

Experts are comparing this to the Regan shooting and saying the SS acted much faster then. They tossed him in a car while shots were still going off.

they tied the catcher in the rye book was connected to the guy who shot regan but the guy who shot John Lennon also is connected to the same book. After he shot John Lennon he immediately sat down and went back to reading the book and after he was arrested he demanded they give him the book back. The book was used for mind control and was a trigger for mind control. J Lennon was constantly followed and harassed by the FBI. He had said that if anything happens to him that it wouldn’t have been an accident

A number of regan insiders who where on some podcasts said that regan had his arm twisted to have bush as a VP which in reality he really didn’t want. Ron and Nancy didn’t really like the bushes. Others have tied the assassination attempt to bush and the Kennedy assassination has links to bush and Nixon. Bush also arranged that the hostages held in iran would not be released until after the election to ensure J Carter would loose

GW Bush made himself to appear as if Christian, but I don’t see convincing evidence that he really was. The bushes were involved in the occult society of skull and bones out of Yale where human bones are inside their meeting house. The descendants of Geronimo sued skull and bones claiming that Prescott bush had robbed Geronimos grave as part of an initiation .

Letters from John Lennon’s killer detailing his obsession with The Catcher in the Rye to the police officer who arrested him went on sale Monday through a Los Angeles auction house.

The descendants say they are investigating claims that in 1918, members of Skull and Bones, including Prescott Bush, the father of George H.W Bush and grandfather of George W. Bush, invaded Geronimo’s grave at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and stole his skull, some bones and other items buried with him. Three members of the Skull and Bones, including Prescott Bush, served as Army volunteers at Fort Sill during World War I. The suit asks that Geronimo’s remains be returned to his native land in Oklahoma and given a proper burial.

All of this is speculative; Skull and Bones members swear an oath never to reveal what goes on inside the Tomb. But author Marc Wortman says that when he was at Yale's Sterling Library researching The Millionaire's Unit, his book about young men from the university who flew during World War I, he stumbled on a letter that seemed to confirm the rumor.

Written from one Bonesman to another, the letter, which is dated 1918, reads:

The skull of the worthy Geronimo the Terrible exhumed from its tomb at Fort Sill by your club and the Knight Haffner is now safe inside the Tomb, together with his well-worn femurs, bit and saddle horn.
Now 20 descendants of Geronimo have filed a lawsuit against Skull and Bones, Yale University and members of the U.S. government (including Barack Obama), calling for the return of their ancestor's remains from New Haven, Fort Sill and "wherever else they may be found."

I don’t oppose an assault weapons ban. It may make some statistical difference in mass shootings but it will have very little impact on homicides by firearms

This was absurdly easily protected. Securing the roof's of those buildings were security 101, yet they didn't do it. i.e. it was either gross incompetence or it was an inside job. And this has nothing to do with "gun violence in America". That is mere deflection.
I see what you mean:

Not so sure about that. I never heard of toddlers accidentally stabbing anyone to death but they do shoot a family member or friend with a gun they found from time to time.

Seriously, you folks in the peanut gallery should just shut up until a complete investigation is done. No one here is a secret service agent, security "expert" or has any experience in site security.

And it wouldn't surprise me a bit for the conspiracy-theory loons to start posting their nonsense on this forum.

Gee, I can't wait....
It does NOT take an expert to state that a man with a gun 130 yards away on a roof with clear line of sight should been prevented. An area that close should have at least been monitored.

Not that my opinion would count but it also seems limp to allow trump to remain sta.....

nding and having his head up. Why wouldn't they be pushing thr guy to the floor faster?
They wanted him to take a good look around to see if it was safe to move forward.

My question was why did they stand Trump up? To give the shooter another shot? But one of the problems is funding. Former presidents don’t get full SS protection and they have to rely on local law enforcement to help out.
Still there is no excuse for not having that building covered. And civilians spotted the man with a rifle on the building before law enforcement. This is either a massive failure or an inside job

From what I've read, the shooter was killed relatively quickly and they only stood Trump up after the "all clear" had been given. They weren't risking Trump at all.

I'm sure we'll hear plenty about why that building was not covered.

You mean like the guy who killed Martin Luther king or the guy who killed Malcolm X when it was really the FBI behind it ?
