One police officer standing on the roof of a building 130 yards away from where the Republican candidate would have prevented the shooting. How could you NOT have someone on top of building with a clear line of sight?
It does seem like a lapse from the Secret Service.

Constant vigilance hour after hour, day after day, month after month, year after year - humans have only so much attention span no matter how much they try. It's truly unfortunate that this was allowed to happen. Tragic for those who died and those who loved them.

I am glad that Donald was not killed. Does every lefty need to state this outright now?

And it wouldn't surprise me a bit for the conspiracy-theory loons to start posting their nonsense on this forum.
Mm, start?

So he's an expert marksman at the tender age of 20?
Obviously not, but 20 is old enough to have the skill and young enough to have the eyesight, coordination and gall.

What do you know of the Secret Service’s capacity to secure private facilities in the vicinity of the event? Do you know anything at all for certain or are you just assuming?
You request sources - yet you present none when requested from you. When you present sources for your statements, they will be substantiated, but complaining about something lacking sources, when your complaint lacks sources hold no weight

Hogwash - the military trains soldiers from 18 how to accurately fire a weapon. At 18 to 20 their eyesight is better than at any other time in life.

Noting the op is presenting his layman's, uninformed opinion...based on events that are not even 24 hours old. I will treat it as such...and wait for the Secret Service, DHS etc, to issue their findings. Hopefully, we can keep the nonsense consipriacies crap to a minumum.....
I was trained with such a weapon in the military and can speak from real life experience and live shooting experiences - how about you?

I can still tell you by the sounds of the report it was chambered .223.

There's some which are being interviewed on national media WHICH ARE and they're saying it was a security failure.
Yes, of course, it was a security failure people were shot and one died at a venue being protected by the Secret Service. Other security failures were JFK and Ronald Reagan so protective measures were increased. They will learn from this failure also.

So was I....but I have enough smarts to know that armchair security experts are nothing but loud mouth critics with a huge chip on their shoulder.

The Secret Service performance in this situation will be used in future training films as an example of what not to do.

Then again the last time they had to act in this capacity was so long ago, those agents hadn't even been born yet.

Experts are comparing this to the Regan shooting and saying the SS acted much faster then. They tossed him in a car while shots were still going off.

I know it's just a movie, but still - watch the movie, "Shooter" to get a feel for how they actually protect a president. In the world of long guns and crack shots, this roof would have been WELL within the secured perimeter.

Yet it wasn't. There are two possibilities: Gross incompetence or intentional "look the other way". Pick one.

I was talking about this on a political site where a LOT of the posters are avid hunters. The consensus was that any decent hunter could have pretty easily made that shot. i.e. as a mater of standard procedure, that rooftop should have been a major spot to secure long before Trump hit the stage. 130 yards was nothing to those posters.

I know it's not a "bonafide" miracle, but I would not be surprised if the Lord had something to do with him missing.

My question was why did they stand Trump up? To give the shooter another shot? But one of the problems is funding. Former presidents don’t get full SS protection and they have to rely on local law enforcement to help out.
Still there is no excuse for not having that building covered. And civilians spotted the man with a rifle on the building before law enforcement. This is either a massive failure or an inside job

Re: Trump Assassination Attempt Another security point - Why no security drones providing an overview? They could have easily seen the shooter outside the security perimeter

He didn’t climb up there until after the event had already started. The building in question was private property outside the venue, so I imagine their capacity to lock it down would’ve been somewhat limited.
Ever heard of surveillance?

Source?

This was for a political rally for a candidate not in office, not an official government event. You need permits to even block out street parking. I imagine more than a few people getting testy if their businesses were locked down because the other guy was having a rally nearby.
You can have the business remain open and still provide a decent level of security, it just takes a little planning and coordination.

Yes the FBI that held onto Hunter’s laptop for years and raided Mar-a-lago will do a thorough unbiased investigation I’m sure
