Yeees.... I just said... in our very genes. The human population as it exists today could NOT have decended from 8 related people in a few thousand years. Therefore, the evidence of all the other survivors is in our genes. If they hadn't survived, and contributed to the modern gene pool, the human population would be very very different. If not extinct.

I don't believe God intended to wipe anyone out per ce. "The Flood" is just one of those things that happened, but because of its immensity and the human predisposition for "majical thinking" God was invoked as cause, and sin the justification.

Well, its a hypothesis that makes sense to me, and the Black Sea Basin appears to be the cradle of the precursor proto civilisation that most of those with "Great Flood" myths decend from... but I admit I am no more than an enthusiastic layman.
