But does he answer all prayers? Why some and not others? How many of the prayers answered have a supernatural element to them, and how many were prayers for stuff that was going to happen anyway?
The world wide flood is quite disproven, and there's about a zillion websites to show this.
Aah, but lo, He has answered my prayers. I am not as i was. That be a good thing. I wasn't very nice.
The flood can be dis-proven? Where is this dis-proof at? Is there a site i can visit or a source?
The Black Sea Inundation Event is believed by many anthropologists to be the real world basis for many of the so called "Great Flood" legends. You must also remember, brinny, that the answer to a prayer can be "no"
A world-wide flood has been disproven. I would suggest 2 books:
The Biblical Flood: A Case History of the Church's Response to Extrabiblical Evidence by Davis Young
Genesis and Geology by Gillispie
The first quote in my signature was in response to the falsification of a world-wide flood by 1831.
Now, there is evidence supporting a local flood (or possibly several of them) in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley that were severe enough to wipe out the local civilization. From the perspective of those involved, it would appear that the "whole world" was flooded.

Greetings LH. Have you ever read thru this site? The Black Sea Inundation Event is believed by many anthropologists to be the real world basis for many of the so called "Great Flood" legends.
I'd not read that particular site before, but interesting.Greetings LH. Have you ever read thru this site?
I found it rather both biblical and in line with my own view. Thoughts?
The Genesis Flood: Why the Bible Says It Must be Local
God and Science
*snip*
Many Christians maintain that the Bible says that the flood account of Genesis requires an interpretation that states that the waters of the flood covered the entire earth. If you read our English Bibles, you will probably come to this conclusion if you don't read the text too closely and if you fail to consider the rest of your Bible. Like most other Genesis stories, the flood account is found in more places than just Genesis. If you read the sidebar, you will discover that Psalms 104 directly eliminates any possibility of the flood being global (see Psalms 104-9 - Does it refer to the Original Creation or the Flood?). In order to accept a global flood, you must reject Psalms 104 and the inerrancy of the Bible. If you like to solve mysteries on your own, you might want to read the flood account first and find the biblical basis for a local flood.
That event is also confirmed a few times in our NT/NC of the BibleI'd not read that particular site before, but interesting.
I'm quite happy to accept that the Noah's Flood incident is based on a long oral tradition about real world events, including the distortion, adition and subtraction that such retelling would involve. as with most of Genesis.

Remember you're looking at the product of an artist's imagination. They only found some bones.

Matthew 24:38 "For as in the days before the flood/kataklusmou <2627>, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 And not they know until came the flood/kataklusmoV <2627> and takes all! Thus shall be also the parousia of the Son of the Man."[Luke 17:27]
2 Peter 3:5 For is oblivious them this ones willing that heavens were of old and land out of water and thru water having stood to the of the God word. 6 thru which the then world to water being deluged/flooded/kataklusqeiV <2626> (5685) perished 7 The yet now heavens and the land to same word having been stored to fire being kept into day of judging and of destruction of the godless men.
Not unless every image of Christ on the planet is "deceptive".Thank you. How come you're the only one who mentioned this? Is it mentioned elsewhere on here? Did i miss something?
That's a bit deceptive, isn't it?
I think "referenced" may be a better word than "confirmed". Obviously the Ark story was well known to Israelites in the 1st century, so it makes sense they'd reference it as something of a cultural given... everyone would understand what they were talking about. I don't believe this makes it necessarily any more "factual" than in John 15:5 where Jesus says "I am the vine"

I find Genesis 1:9, 10 interesting.Sooooo it's a fact that not ALL on earth were obliterated during the flood, as the Bible states? Where were those who survived who were not on the ark? Is it documented somewhere?

I find Genesis 1:9, 10 interesting.
The waters covered the whole land and here it shows YHWH parting the waters to one place.
Wouldn't that almost make the land a type of "Island" surrouned by water?
Genesis 1:9 And 'Elohiym is saying: "they shall flow together, the waters from under the heavens, to one place and she shall appear the Dry/03004 yabbashah", and he is becoming so.
10 And 'Elohiym is calling to Dry/03004 yabbashah, Land/'erets, and to confluence of the waters/04325 mayim He calls Seas/yam. And 'Elohiym is seeing that Good.
Ahhh ok. Perhaps we need a seperate thread on the flood?you missed the gist o' my question amigo![]()

CorrectSooooo it's a fact that not ALL on earth were obliterated during the flood, as the Bible states?
Everywhere that isn't in the Black Sea basinWhere were those who survived who were not on the ark?
Indeed. In our very genes. There is absolutely no way that the human genome as it is currently distributed in current global populations could have stemmed from a family of 4 related couples only a few thousand years ago.Is it documented somewhere?
Dang! There are already more than 60 threads on that topicwith excruciating detail![]()
An artists rendering of what Lucy looked like is no more "deceptive" than an artists rendering of what Christ looked like. Indeed, maybe even less so, since we have physical remains of Lucy, but not of Christ.*wonders how the above comment relates to our Lucy*
