yes, my friend, our ancestor or "cousin" who must then be more in God's image than we are.
What does YHWH look like?

John 4:23 But is coming an hour and now is when the true worshipers shall be worshipping to the Father in Spirit and Truth, for also the Father such is seeking the ones worshipping Him.
24 A spirit the God, and the ones worshipping Him in Spirit and Truth is binding to be worshipping."

Hmm.
Will if I am reading Genesis 1:24 correctly, wouldn't Elohiym have created the apes first

Genesis 1:24 And 'Elohiym is saying "and the land, she shall bring forth soul of living to species of her, beast/cattle, and creepy things and life of land to species of her". And he is becoming so.
25 And 'Elohiym is making life of the land to species of her, and the beast/cattle to species of her, and all of creepy things of the ground to species of him. And 'Elohiym is seeing that Good.

Are you saying it isn't?
Obviously not, or it wouldn't have so many errors in it.

INSPIRED by God, and/or uselful as alegory/metaphor for teaching and insight into the human condition? Sure. Beautifully, ellegentlly so. But literally God's literal description of literal historical events? Nah.

I believe God's Word. You do not?

Only once in scripture is "word" capitalized. That is John 1. And there Word does not refer to scripture.

So why are you using a term reserved for Jesus to refer to scripture?

There is also the question of: how do I interpret scripture and what do I believe about it?

I believe the theological messages of Genesis 1-3, but it is obvious they never were intended as history. And "in his image" was never meant to refer to any physical or spiritual similarity between God and humans.

Therefore Elohim's image is as an ape, our ancestor?

Reve 19:13 And having been about cast/clothed cloak, having been dipped to blood and has been called the Name of him, the Word/logoV <3056> of the God.

Thank you. How come you're the only one who mentioned this? Is it mentioned elsewhere on here? Did i miss something?

That's a bit deceptive, isn't it?

No. Forensic scientists are very good at reconstructing what people look like from bones. Muscles leave marks on bones where they attach, and those marks show how large the muscles were. So you can use the bone to overlay muscles on the bones. From the muscles, it is a simple step to adding skin over the muscles and voila! you have the shape of the individual.

The extent of hair and the coloration of hair are a bit more guesswork. This is done mostly from similar living species. For Lucy, since her head so much resembles a chimp and she lived long before clothes were invented and in a climate similar to that in which chimps today live, the extent of hair is thought to be similar to modern chimps.

All this is familiar to anyone who has ever watched "Walking with Dinosaurs" or other programs where prehistoric beasts are reconstructed. It is always explained. We simply thought you knew.

Sooooo it's a fact that not ALL on earth were obliterated during the flood, as the Bible states? Where were those who survived who were not on the ark? Is it documented somewhere?

All around the earth in cultures that go back uninterrupted thru the period the Flood is thought to have happened.

The "ark" in the original Babylonian story was simply a rough raft. Current hypotheses think it might have been a river boat used in Sumerian times.

Brinny, the Flood never happened and there was no ark. If we try to trace the legends back to a probable historical event, we have a local flood with survivors on fafts or river boats.

Biblical literalists do love to quote John 1:1... of course, no where does this passage or any other say that "the Word" therein refered to has anything to do with the words in the Bible.
:)
I actually had a thread on that awhile back, but the link I had in my study folder was an old one and I couldn't remember what board I put on ehehe. :sorry:

I finally found it

Who did God make in His image, and when? Lucy was before me....was God speaking of Lucy's ancestors? (the ones before Lucy)

"in his image" does not refer to any physical or spiritual similarity. That phrase was used at the time Genesis was written to refer to an ambassador that had the power to negotiate binding treaties. Remember, in those days of poor communication it could take weeks for a message to get back to the king and then back to the ambassador. So some ambassadors were said to be "in the image" of the king. The same thing applied to traders making deals for their distant bosses.

So, humans are given power over the beasts of the earth. Whatever humans do to them, God will approve and back them, just like the king was obliged to honor the treaty.

When you understand what "in his image" really meant instead of what we today think it meant, the whole problem goes away.

I've never heard a Creationist claim John 1:1 refers to the Bible... in my experience they just blindly call the Bible "The Word" without thinking about the theological implications.

what is the Bible? Does it have anything to do with God? Is there a God? How do we know there is or isn't a God?

The Jews and Muslims believe in YHWH. How do they know YHWH exists :)

2 Corin 3:14 But was calloused/epwrwqh <4456> (5681) the minds of them.
For until the today, the same covering upon the reading of the Old Covenant/Testament is remaining, no being up-covered/ana-kaluptomenon <343> (5746).
That In Christ it is being-taken-away
