Anyone here into ambient / chillout?

Any ambient fans here? I've been listening to quite a lot of Tangerine Dream lately, and also a few acts from the 90s as well. I'm not really up on modern stuff though, can someone give me some suggestions? Preferably something a bit more interesting than "new age", ie., the generic panpipes-over-synth-strings stuff.

For reference, this is the sort of stuff I do like:

Tangerine Dream - Invisible Limits - YouTube

FSOL - Dead Skin Cells - YouTube

Global Communication - 9 25 (milkdrop) - YouTube

I listen to a lot of ambient/electronic music. Here are some bands to start off with:

Aphex Twin
Air
Thievery Corporation
Death in Vegas (Dead Elvis album)
Underworld
Orbital
Mum
Vector-Lovers

Good luck!

I love the 90s too ;)

Heard of half of them. I keep seeing Aphex Twin's selected works albums pop up on lists, so I might give them a go. Another name I see a lot is Biosphere, so I might check out some of that.

I've been listening to Boards of Canada a lot lately:

Boards Of Canada - Aquarius - YouTube

Song #6 on Selected Ambient Works is what I call the "doorbell song" because it sounds like a doorbell ringing.
I like Boards of Canada, but you may like Underworld better. I do.
Squarepusher is another good one.
Thievery Corporation is really good chill-out music.

one of the only ambient bands i listen to is Grouper. I think it's just one girl actually, Liz Harris. But I go to sleep with one of her albums playing, almost every night. Probably my favorite song off of her album, AIA: Alien Observer, is Come Softly.

It won't let me post a link, since i'm new. But check it out

I'm more into chillout, minimal, IDM, psybient, psychill when it comes to slow/downtempo music. But when i'm not listening to Rock, Hip Hop, Techno, DnB, or Trance, I'm usually listening to some of the people on this list below. But i also like the chill out stations on DI.FM, I think it has like 4 or 5 chill out or chilled psy music. So here are some of my favorite artists in these genres;:)

Downtempo/Chillout/Ambient;

Plaid
Aphex Twin
Boards of Canada
Harold Budd
Brian Eno
Autechre
Christoph de Babalon
The Orb
Vainio Väisänen Vega
Krusseldorf
Sigur Ros

Psy-Chill/Psybient;

Carbon Based Lifeforms
Aes Dana
Astral Projection
Hallucinogen
Capsula
Solar Fields
H.U.V.A. Network
Vibrasphere
Cell
Hol Baumann
Tripswitch
Simon Posford
Shulman
PhuturePrimitive
Juno Reactor (Makes all different kinds of music)
Omnimotion
Chronos
System 7

I'm also into Orbital and Squarepusher like some of the posts above. I'm going to see Squarepusher when he comes to NYC in Nov. It should be a fun show since he added all that new hi tech monitors and helmet with led screen.
